E58 - Taking Thoughts Captive - Change your life when you take charge

What if some of the thoughts causing you the most worry, comparison, people-pleasing and need for control…aren't even true? You don't have to believe everything you think. In this episode of Good News at Work, we're getting practical about what the Bible means when it tells us to "take every thought captive" in 2 Corinthians 10:5—and, more importantly, how to actually do it when your mind starts running away from you. Because one thought can quickly become an assumption. An assumption can become worry. Worry can turn into overthinking. And before you know it, you've spent an hour trying to solve a problem that hasn't even happened yet. Sound familiar? We'll talk about how unchecked thoughts can lead to worry, comparison, people-pleasing and trying to control things that were never ours to control. Then we'll walk through four simple, biblical steps you can use when you notice your thoughts getting away from you. You'll also learn what to do when you don't catch the thought right away—because sometimes we realize we're spiraling after we've already spent 45 minutes mentally preparing for twelve things that may never happen. This isn't about pretending everything is fine, ignoring real problems or replacing negative thoughts with fake positivity.  We'll look at what 2 Corinthians 10:5, Romans 12:2, Philippians 4:8, Matthew 6 and 1 Peter 5:7 teach us about our thoughts, worry, renewing our minds and trusting God with what we cannot control. If you struggle with overthinking, worrying about the future, comparing yourself to others, people-pleasing, negative thoughts or needing to control outcomes, this episode is for you. Your thoughts can be loud and still be wrong. Let's learn how to capture them, bring them back to what is true and give God what was never ours to carry in the first place. 🙏 Subscribe to the Good News at Work newsletter at: www.goodnewsatwork.com/subscribe ****************************************************************************** 🌐 Connect with Good News at Work: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@GoodNewsatWork Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goodnewsatwork Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/goodnewsatwork Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/goodnewsatwork X (Twitter): https://x.com/goodnewsatwork LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/goodnewsatwork ___________________________________________________________________________  About Good News at Work Good News at Work is a Christian podcast and video channel focused on helping you apply biblical wisdom to everyday life, work, relationships, and faith habits. E55 - What Every Grieving Christian Needs to Hear - Grief Is the Gift Nobody Wants

Grief changes us—but it doesn't have to separate us from God. Losing someone you love is one of life's deepest pains, and for Christians, it often comes with unexpected questions. If God is good, why does this hurt so much? If we trust Him, why does grief sometimes shake our faith instead of strengthening it? In this honest and encouraging episode of Good News at Work, we explore the tension between faith and grief. We'll talk about why grief feels so overwhelming, why it's normal to wrestle with questions after a loss, what the Bible teaches about mourning, and why even Jesus wept. You'll discover that grief isn't a sign of weak faith—it's often a reflection of deep love. More importantly, you'll be reminded that God isn't waiting for you to "get over it." He meets us in our sadness, our confusion, and our unanswered questions with His presence, comfort, and hope. If you're grieving the loss of a spouse, parent, child, sibling, friend, or anyone you deeply loved—or if you're walking alongside someone who is—this conversation is for you. In this episode, you'll learn: Why grief and faith can exist together. Why Christians still struggle after losing someone they love. What Jesus' own grief teaches us. How to process difficult emotions without feeling guilty. Practical ways to walk through grief with God instead of alone. Why hope in Christ doesn't erase pain—but transforms it. Whether your loss is recent or happened years ago, our prayer is that this episode reminds you that you are not alone, your questions don't scare God, and His goodness is still present—even in the middle of heartbreak. 🌐 Connect with Good News at Work: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@GoodNewsatWork Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goodnewsatwork Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/goodnewsatwork Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/goodnewsatwork X (Twitter): https://x.com/goodnewsatwork LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/goodnewsatwork Sign up for the GOOD NEWSletter: www.goodnewsatwork.com/subscribe ___________________________________________________________________________  About Good News at Work Good News at Work is a Christian podcast and video channel focused on helping you apply biblical wisdom to everyday life, work, relationships, and faith habits. E54 - Is No Contact Biblical? Learn how Jesus handled Difficult People

What does the Bible say about cutting people off, going "no contact," or dealing with difficult people? In today's culture, relationship advice often sounds like this:Block them. Ghost them. Protect your peace. But is that how Jesus handled difficult people, disagreement, and conflict?    In this episode of Good News at Work, we explore how Jesus dealt with critics, betrayers, difficult personalities, and misunderstandings—and what His example teaches us about handling conflict, setting healthy boundaries, practicing forgiveness, and pursuing reconciliation in relationships.   You'll discover practical biblical principles for navigating tough relationships while still reflecting the character of Christ. In this podcast we cover: • What the Bible says about cutting people off or going no contact • How Jesus handled criticism, disagreement, and betrayal • The difference between biblical forgiveness and unhealthy relationships • When it may be wise to create distance or boundaries • How to speak truth with grace and compassion • How Christians can handle conflict differently from culture   Through powerful moments from the Gospels—including Jesus confronting religious leaders, showing compassion to crowds, forgiving those who hurt Him, and restoring Peter—we uncover five attitudes Jesus modeled that can transform how we handle difficult people today.   If you've ever wondered: Should Christians cut people off? Is "no contact" biblical? What does the Bible say about toxic relationships? How should Christians deal with difficult people? This episode will give you biblical wisdom, practical guidance, and encouragement for your faith journey. Because sometimes the most powerful way to follow Jesus is simply learning how He treated people—and modeling that in our own relationships.
