    The Explicit Gospel

How far can betrayal go before grace runs out? Ezekiel 16 uses some of the most graphic language in Scripture to portray Israel’s unfaithfulness, but underneath the shocking imagery is a deeply personal picture of covenant love, betrayal, judgment, and ultimately redemption. The guys unpack why Ezekiel speaks so bluntly, what the chapter reveals about the ugliness of sin, and how the judgment Israel deserves ultimately points forward to Christ bearing shame and death in our place.  Along the way, they explore Jerusalem’s pagan origins, the meaning of “abomination,” the imagery of God covering His people with a garment, and the danger of simply forgetting what God has done. Plus, the Great Book War pits Celtic spirituality against New Testament Greek, Pastor Dave receives a very squishy gift, and Pastor Bob tackles the difficult question: what happens to babies who die?   **SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS TO THE SHOW HERE** https://millingtonbaptist.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/241/responses/new ***VOTE HERE*** The Great Book War is on!  Vote for the winner of the 'Great Book War' with the link below! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdE4oCnX2ZYEeYrKiGmDDfZDDnw0KzBm-lF6tWDUtzNZnENAA/viewform?usp=header TRUNK OR TREAT https://millingtonbaptist.org/trunk-or-treat-2026/ City Relief https://millingtonbaptist.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/188/responses/new Mens Breakfast https://millingtonbaptist.org/adults/men/ CHAPTERS: 00:00:00 - Trunk Retreat And Coat Drive 00:00:50 - Welcome And October Weather Whiplash 00:02:09 - Squishy Toys As Stress Relief 00:06:44 - Book War Picks Celtic Vs Greek 00:16:36 - Serving NYC With City Relief 00:17:38 - Ezekiel 16 And An Explicit Passage 00:32:08 - Garment Imagery And Covenant Love 00:36:05 - Jesus Bears Our Shameful Judgment 00:40:54 - Ezekiel 17 Preview Eagles And Vines 00:43:18 - Men’s Workshop Stressing Less About Stress 00:44:10 - Two Minute Warning Do Babies Go Heaven 00:51:43 - Wrap Up And Next Week Tease Music "Ventura" Morgan Taylor U76EPPNJDYZYU0Y7

    Is Christ Present?

What happens when we put God’s name on our own agenda? In Ezekiel 13, the prophet confronts false teachers who claim divine authority for words God never gave them, exposing the danger of spiritual identity theft, false assurance, and leaders who whitewash cracks instead of repairing what is actually broken. This week on Behind the Pulpit, the guys unpack what Ezekiel’s warning means for Christians today, how to discern between God’s revealed will and our own plans, and why both spiritual leaders and those listening to them need to practice careful discernment. They also tackle a major question about the Lord’s Supper, compare the memorial and spiritual-presence views, and somehow turn ordering a ham-and-cheese sandwich into a lesson on presuming to speak for God.  Plus, the Great Book War rolls on, and Pastor Dave dives into one of the Bible’s strangest mysteries: who exactly were the Nephilim?  **SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS TO THE SHOW HERE** https://millingtonbaptist.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/241/responses/new ***VOTE HERE*** The Great Book War is on!  Vote for the winner of the 'Great Book War' with the link below! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdE4oCnX2ZYEeYrKiGmDDfZDDnw0KzBm-lF6tWDUtzNZnENAA/viewform?usp=header CONTEND CONFERENCE https://millingtonbaptist.org/contend-conference-2027/ TRUNK OR TREAT https://millingtonbaptist.org/trunk-or-treat-2026/ LITTLE FOOTPRINTS PIE FUNDRAISER https://millingtonbaptist.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/293/responses/new CAMPUS WORK DAY https://millingtonbaptist.org/garden-workday-october-31/ CHAPTERS: 00:00:00 - Trunk Or Treat Details 00:00:56 - Podcast Return And Church Merch 00:01:53 - Book War Picks And Voting 00:10:57 - Contend Conference 2027 Preview 00:11:44 - Ezekiel’s Audience In Exile 00:15:53 - Lord’s Supper Views Explained 00:23:48 - God’s Will Versus Daily Agendas 00:30:59 - Pie Fundraiser For Little Footprints 00:31:54 - Ezekiel 13 And Spiritual Identity Theft 00:41:06 - Whitewashed Walls And Real Discernment 00:48:24 - Next Week Ezekiel 16 Preview 00:49:26 - Campus Workday Invitation 00:50:18 - Who Were The Nephilim 00:57:37 - Final Thoughts And Sign Off Music "Ventura" Morgan Taylor U76EPPNJDYZYU0Y7

What does global missions look like when the whole church sees itself as part of the mission? Fresh off Millington Baptist Church’s Missions Conference, Pastor Bob sits down with WorldVenture President Jeff Denlinger and Vice President David Love to talk about the changing landscape of global missions, reaching unreached peoples, and why the local church remains central to sending and supporting missionaries. They also explore WorldVenture’s 360 approach to ministry, how Christians can use their professions and skills for the sake of the gospel, why younger missionaries are increasingly drawn to hard places, and what mission organizations may need to rethink for the next generation. Plus, Tim and Bob recap the conference, reveal a record-setting week in the Great Book War, and preview the return to Ezekiel next week.   **SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS TO THE SHOW HERE** https://millingtonbaptist.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/241/responses/new FRESH WAVE https://millingtonbaptist.org/mbc-missions-conference/  DISABILITY TRAINING EVENT https://millingtonbaptist.org/disability-training-event/ CHRISTIANITY EXPLORED https://millingtonbaptist.org/christianity-explored-2026/ CHAPTERS 00:00:00 - Fresh Wave Is Back 00:00:46 - Missions Conference Weekend Recap 00:05:06 - Disability Ministry Training At MBC 00:05:58 - Meet World Venture Leaders 00:10:48 - What Makes World Venture Distinct 00:14:25 - The 360 Framework And Integrity 00:20:40 - Contextualizing The Gospel For Real People 00:22:50 - Why Younger Workers Choose Hard Places 00:27:00 - Hard Questions Facing Mission Agencies 00:31:50 - How To Get Trained And Sent 00:32:55 - Parting Charge For Millington Baptist 00:33:00 - Christianity Explored Starts This Fall 00:33:40 - Backstage Reactions And Social Media 00:34:29 - Book War Results And Record Votes 00:38:08 - Ezekiel 13 Next Week Preview Music "Ventura" Morgan Taylor U76EPPNJDYZYU0Y7

    Prophetic Street Theater

What does your life communicate about the God you claim to follow? In Ezekiel 3–5, God gives the prophet a series of strange, unforgettable sign acts designed to show Israel just how seriously they had misrepresented Him. From a model siege to lying on his side, rationed bread, and shaved hair, Ezekiel’s prophetic street theater makes one thing clear: how God’s people live matters. This week on Behind the Pulpit, the guys unpack those unusual signs, Ezekiel’s calling as a watchman, the reality of judgment, and the hope found in God preserving a remnant. They also take a deeper look at the New Apostolic Reformation, spiritual authority, modern claims of apostles and prophets, and the dangers that can come when spiritual leadership moves beyond the authority of Scripture. Plus, the Great Book War gets a new scoring system, Pastor Dave makes the case for the Apostolic Fathers, Pastor Bob brings Christian bioethics into the ring, and the show closes with a new Two-Minute Warning on how Christians can think ethically in everyday decisions. **SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS TO THE SHOW HERE** https://millingtonbaptist.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/241/responses/new ***VOTE HERE*** The Great Book War is on!  Vote for the winner of the 'Great Book War' with the link below! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdE4oCnX2ZYEeYrKiGmDDfZDDnw0KzBm-lF6tWDUtzNZnENAA/viewform?usp=header MISSIONS CONFERENCE https://millingtonbaptist.org/mbc-missions-conference/  Trunk or Treat https://millingtonbaptist.org/trunk-or-treat-2026/ Membership https://millingtonbaptist.org/about-us/membership/ 175th Banquet https://millingtonbaptist.org/175th-anniversary-banquet/ Chapters: 00:00:00 - Welcome And Water Bottle Banter 00:02:38 - Missions Conference Invitation 00:03:24 - Book War Rules And Score Update 00:06:00 - Why Read The Apostolic Fathers 00:09:01 - Christian Bioethics For Real Decisions 00:13:37 - Voting Habits And Trunk Retreat Notes 00:14:30 - Millington Baptist Church Trunk or Treat 00:15:20 - NAR Claims And Spiritual Abuse Risks 00:28:32 - Membership Class Details 00:29:18 - Ezekiel Recap Misrepresenting God 00:35:46 - The Watchman Calling To Warn 00:39:20 - Prophetic Street Theater Signs Explained 00:48:32 - Judgment Plus Remnant Hope 00:50:46 - Missions Weekend Speakers And Logistics 00:52:03 - 175th Anniversary Banquet 00:53:02 - Two Minute Warning Christian Ethics 00:55:30 - Final Reminders And Farewell Music "Ventura" Morgan Taylor U76EPPNJDYZYU0Y7

    Serious Face, Serious Title

What happens when our loyalty to God becomes divided? As Glory Departs, Glory Returns continues through Ezekiel, the vision gets darker: Israel’s worship has been compromised, God’s glory is moving away from the temple, and the question becomes uncomfortably personal. The idols may look different today, but the temptation to trust created things more than the Creator hasn’t gone anywhere. This week on Behind the Pulpit, the guys wrestle with what modern idolatry can actually look like, why God’s slow departure from Jerusalem reveals something surprising about His mercy, and how Christians should examine themselves before coming to the Lord’s Table without falling into self-condemnation. Plus, the Great Book War makes a little history—and somehow a potential road trip to a theological publishing warehouse enters the conversation. Join us as we keep journeying through one of the Bible’s wildest books and ask what Ezekiel has to say to the church today. **SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS TO THE SHOW HERE** https://millingtonbaptist.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/241/responses/new ***VOTE HERE*** The Great Book War is on!  Vote for the winner of the 'Great Book War' with the link below! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdE4oCnX2ZYEeYrKiGmDDfZDDnw0KzBm-lF6tWDUtzNZnENAA/viewform?usp=header MISSIONS CONFERENCE https://millingtonbaptist.org/mbc-missions-conference/  The Bridge https://millingtonbaptist.org/the-bridge-mbc/ CITY RELIEF https://millingtonbaptist.org/missions/cityrelief/ Trunk or Treat https://millingtonbaptist.org/trunk-or-treat-2026/ Grief Share https://millingtonbaptist.org/griefshare/ Music "Ventura" Morgan Taylor U76EPPNJDYZYU0Y7

Behind the Pulpit returns for Season 5 as we begin a brand-new sermon series through Ezekiel: Glory Departs, Glory Returns. Following Sunday’s opening message, “The Weight of Glory,” Pastors Dave and Bob go beyond the sermon to explore the questions, themes, and implications that come with stepping into one of the strangest and most powerful books in Scripture. As our journey through Ezekiel begins, what happens when everything familiar is stripped away and God suddenly reveals Himself in a way no one expected? What does Ezekiel’s vision show us about who God is, where He is in seasons of exile, and what happens when we truly encounter His glory? Along the way, the guys kick off a new season of the Great Book War, introduce a few changes to the show, and somehow find themselves talking about Catan, UFOs, and dung bread. Aliens...Again

Something weird is happening at the intersection of headlines and faith: UAP photos drop, “alien disclosure” talk spikes, and some people insist the next release could rattle the church. We don’t bite the panic bait. We walk through the main Christian reactions, talk honestly about skepticism toward government narratives, and then plant our feet where they belong, on the resurrection of Jesus. If Christ rose, every other claim has to fit around that truth, not replace it. From there, we shift into 2 Timothy 3 and get personal about discernment in an age of AI-generated content, viral theology clips, and platform-first teaching. We recap a sermon built around one diagnostic question: how do you know whether your faith is real or counterfeit? Paul’s answer cuts through appearances and goes straight to what your life loves, what it seeks, and what it costs. We also talk about “having the appearance of godliness,” how spiritual costumes form, and how to spot twisted half-truths without slapping the “false teacher” label on every secondary disagreement. Then Noah takes us into 2 Timothy 3:16–17, the classic passage on the inspiration of Scripture: God-breathed words that teach, reprove, correct, and train. We connect it back to Genesis 3’s “Did God really say?” and the pride that makes us critique the Bible rather than letting it read us. If you want a clearer view of biblical authority, sanctification, and what it means to be equipped for every good work, this one is for you. Subscribe so you don’t miss the final stretch of 2 Timothy, and if this helped you think more clearly, share it with a friend and leave a review. *SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS TO THE SHOW HERE* https://millingtonbaptist.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/241/responses/new 175th Anniversary Service https://millingtonbaptist.org/mbc-175th-anniversary-worship-service/ Charter Day Sign Up https://millingtonbaptist.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/243/responses/new Passion Conference jgraves@millingtonbaptist.org Chapters: 0:00 Open 6:36 In The News 15:56 The Great Book War 19:41 Sermon Recap | 2 Timothy 3:1-15 33:31 Sermon Recap | 2 Timothy 3:16-17 Music "Ventura" Morgan Taylor U76EPPNJDYZYU0Y7
