#236. Know Thy Strenghts: How to go from strength to strength

Want to know how to be more confident? Start by knowing your strengths. Building confidence isn’t simply about overcoming your weaknesses, becoming more outgoing, or trying to become a different version of yourself. Sometimes, it starts with understanding what already makes you effective, even magnetic — then deliberately developing those strengths and building around them. In this episode, I explore how knowing your strengths can help you build confidence, develop your personal brand and create a career, reputation and body of work around what makes you distinct. We’ll explore: • Why playing to your strengths can be more powerful than constantly fixing your weaknesses
 • How to discover your signature strengths through reflection, feedback and self-assessment
• Why your strengths are clues — not labels
 • How personality tests and identity frameworks can help you understand yourself without defining you
• Why your strengths aren’t necessarily fixed talents you were simply born with
 • How deliberate practice can turn natural inclinations into real mastery
 • Why pushing beyond your comfort zone doesn’t mean abandoning your strengths
 • How self-awareness can become self-limiting when you over-identify with a labe l
• How to use your strengths to build a more distinctive personal brand
 • Why your personal brand should give you more room to become, not tell you who you have to be Know thyself. Then keep going. Your personal brand doesn’t need to become another box you put yourself in. It can be a platform for developing what makes you uniquely effective — and stretching it further than you thought possible. If you’re interested in confidence, self-awareness, personal development, personal branding, strengths, identity, career development and becoming more intentional about how you show up in the world, this is a framework for building from what’s already there. 0:00 Know Thy Strengths Intro 0:48 Play to Your Strengths 3:23 Discover Your Strengths 7:13 Beyond the Labels. #235. Build Your Personal Board of Directors: Who's at Your Table?

Let’s talk how to build your personal brand like a CEO — by thinking strategically about the people, mentors and professional relationships shaping your career. In this episode, I introduce the idea of a Personal Board of Directors: a carefully curated group of people who can help you develop your personal brand, expand your perspective and navigate your ambitions. Traditional career advice often tells us to “find a mentor.” But what if you don’t need one perfect mentor? What if you need a network of people who each play a different role in your development? Drawing on career research around developmental networks and mentoring, as well as Napoleon Hill’s idea of an “invisible council” from Think and Grow Rich, I explore how to build your own Personal Board of Directors — whether you know these people personally or learn from them from afar. Your board might include a Connector, Informer, Influencer, Sponsor, Cheerleader, Critic, Captain, Next Gen or Invisible Counsellor. Each can offer something different: industry knowledge, career advice, connections, challenge, encouragement, perspective or inspiration. Your personal brand doesn’t develop in isolation. The people and ideas you surround yourself with influence how you think, what you believe is possible and where your career can go. So, if you’re building a personal brand, developing your career, looking for better mentors or thinking about your next level of professional growth, ask yourself: Who’s at your table? You’re the CEO of Brand You. Build your board accordingly. 0:00 Your Personal Board of Directors Intro 2:05 Your Invisible Council 9:08 Appointing Your Board Members 18:25 Evolve Your Board 👋🏽 Hi, I'm Dianne - personal brand coach, consultant and speaker for emerging leaders, executives and entrepreneurs. #234. Mental Real Estate: Own an Idea in Other People's Minds

Personal branding is about more than visibility. It’s about becoming known for an idea. In this episode, I explore how to build a personal brand that people remember by creating your own mental real estate in the market. What do you want people to associate with your name? Strong personal branding creates a mental shortcut: an idea, phrase, expertise or territory that becomes connected to you in people’s minds. This is the power of brand positioning — finding your space, then occupying it distinctly enough to become associated with it. Drawing on Al Ries and Jack Trout’s classic principles of positioning, including the Laws of the Mind, Focus, Category and Perception, we’ll explore why the strongest personal brands aren’t necessarily known for everything they can do. They become known for something. I also explore the idea of the Adjacent Possible and why owning a clear position doesn’t mean boxing yourself into a niche. Instead, your personal brand can expand into adjacent ideas, skills, interests, products and opportunities — creating an entire world around your core idea. Finally, we look at how to invest in your mental real estate through content, signature ideas, frameworks, SEO, collaborations, products and consistent communication. If you’re building a personal brand, developing your professional identity, refining your positioning or trying to become known for something specific, this is a strategy for moving beyond simply “standing out” — and becoming memorable. 0:00 Mental Real Estate Intro 8:35 The Adjacent Possible 13:5 Investing In Your Real Estate 👋🏽 Hi, I'm Dianne - personal brand coach, consultant and speaker for emerging leaders, executives and entrepreneurs. #233. All about the VIBES. Finding the right words for your personal brand

How you communicate shapes how people perceive you. In this episode, we explore the power of words, tone of voice and language in personal branding, and how the right words can create a vibe before you’ve said very much at all. Your personal brand isn’t only communicated through what you say. It’s also communicated through the words you choose, the tone you use and the cultural signals your language sends. We’ll explore how to develop a distinctive personal brand voice, understand the culturally-coded language of the audience you want to connect with, and choose words that feel intentional rather than generic. Because strong communication skills aren’t simply about being clear. They’re about understanding the feeling your language creates. This episode explores: • How words shape perception and create an emotional response
 • Why language is an important part of personal branding
 • How to identify the cultural codes of the room you want to enter
• Why generic words can weaken your personal brand
 • How to develop your own verbal style and vocabulary
• The difference between borrowing language and making it your own
• How to create a personal brand voice that feels recognisable, distinctive and authentically yours Think of your words as a dress code. Learn the language of the room you want to enter, then make it your own. Because the goal isn't to sound like everyone else in your industry. It’s to sound like you. 👋🏽 Hi, I'm Dianne - personal brand coach, consultant and speaker for emerging leaders, executives and entrepreneurs. #232. Worldbuilding. Stop boxing yourself into a niche. Invite people into your world.

Personal branding isn’t about putting yourself into a smaller and smaller niche. It’s about building a personal brand that is recognisable for something, without becoming restrictive. In this episode, we explore why you are not your niche, and how to build a personal brand around a wider world of ideas, interests, influences and experiences. For years, “find your niche” has been one of the most repeated pieces of personal branding advice. And while having a clear niche can help with positioning, your niche shouldn’t become the boundary of your identity. Instead, think about personal branding through the lens of worldbuilding. Your expertise may be the central thread, but your interests, hobbies, influences, taste, rituals, references, relationships and experiences create the world around it. We’ll explore how to build a personal brand without boxing yourself in, why context makes people more interesting and memorable, and how your content can reveal the person behind your professional positioning. This episode also explores the psychology of identity and the End of History Illusion — and what it means for building a personal brand when you’re likely to evolve, change careers, discover new interests and become someone different from who you are today. Your niche can tell people what you do. Your personal brand should give them a reason to remember you. You are not the niche. You are the world around it. 0:00 Worldbuilding Intro 2:09 Worldbuilding and personal branding 8:58 Your content is your exposition 14:39 The End of History Illusion 👋🏽 Hi, I'm Dianne - personal brand coach, consultant and speaker for emerging leaders, executives and entrepreneurs. #231. Beauty & the Brain: The Power of Neuroaesthetics

Beauty isn’t superficial. Neuroaesthetics may explain why. In this episode, we explore the psychology of beauty, how the brain responds to aesthetic experiences, and why we’re naturally wired to notice, seek and respond to beautiful things. But this isn’t just about understanding beauty. It’s also about how to make your life more aesthetic and why creating a more beautiful, intentional environment can change the way you experience everyday life. What is neuroaesthetics, and what does beauty actually do to the brain? We look at the neuroscience and psychology behind aesthetic experiences, including how emotion, memory, familiarity, context and personal meaning shape what we find beautiful. From your wardrobe and home to food, colour, typography, interiors and the small rituals of everyday life, we explore practical ways to make life more beautiful and create an aesthetic lifestyle that feels personal rather than performative. We’ll also explore why aesthetics matter in personal branding. Your personal brand isn’t communicated through words alone. Your photography, wardrobe, visual identity, colour palette, website, workspace and presentation style all contribute to how people experience and perceive you. We’ll look at brands like Rhode and their carefully constructed aesthetic worlds, and what this can teach us about visual identity, personal branding and creating a distinctive aesthetic. If you’ve ever wondered how to make your life more aesthetic, how to romanticise your everyday life, or whether caring about beautiful things is superficial, this episode is for you. Perhaps beauty isn’t frivolous after all. Perhaps we should all be thinking about how to make your life more aesthetic and create meaning, connection, creativity and joy. In this episode:
 • What is neuroaesthetics?
 • How beauty affects the brain
• The psychology of aesthetic experiences
 • Why we’re drawn to beautiful things
• How to make your life more aesthetic
 • How to create a beautiful, intentional life
 • Aesthetic lifestyle and everyday beauty

#230. POV. The Real Potential in the Yapping Trend

Everyone is yapping. But does your personal brand have a POV? In this episode, we explore why having a strong point of view matters for personal branding, communication and building a memorable personal brand in an age where everyone has something to say. The yapping trend has taken over podcasts, TikTok, Instagram and social media. We’re talking more, sharing more and turning everyday conversations into content. But there’s an interesting opportunity hiding underneath all that yapping: casually developing a genuine point of view. A strong POV is more than an opinion. It’s the perspective, beliefs, ideas and experiences that shape how you see the world — and ultimately what makes your personal brand distinctive. We explore the difference between having something to say and simply having something to talk about, why personal brands with a clear POV are more memorable, and how your experiences, expertise and observations can become the foundation of your point of view. If you’re building a personal brand, creating content, growing on LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok or Instagram, or trying to become known for something, developing your POV can help you communicate with more clarity, personality and authority. Because in a world where everyone is talking, the opportunity may not be to yap louder. It might be to have something worth saying. In this episode:
 • What is a POV?
 • POV vs opinion
 • Why personal brands need a point of view
 • The yapping trend and what it reveals about communication
• How to develop a strong POV
• Finding your perspective and personal brand voice
 • Turning experience into ideas

#229. Upgrading your self concept to become your best self

How to upgrade your self-concept and become your best self starts with changing the way you see yourself. Your self-concept shapes your identity, confidence, behaviour and the decisions you make every day. In this episode, we explore the psychology of self-concept and why an outdated identity can quietly keep you stuck — even when you have the skills, experience and ambition to create something different. Your self-concept is the internal picture you hold of who you are. If you repeatedly tell yourself “I’m not confident,” “I’m not creative,” “I’m not a leader,” or “I’m not good at putting myself out there,” those beliefs can begin to influence how you behave and what you believe is possible. We’ll explore how to upgrade your self-concept by stepping into your Future Self, using the Alter Ego Effect, and building new identity-based habits inspired by ideas from Benjamin Hardy, Todd Herman and James Clear. You’ll learn how to:
 • Identify an outdated self-concept
• Create a stronger Future Self identity
 • Use an alter ego to access qualities you already possess
 • Build habits that reinforce your new identity
 • Become more confident by changing how you see yourself
 • Start acting as your best self now This isn't about pretending to be someone you're not. It's about recognising the version of yourself you're capable of becoming — and allowing your everyday decisions to become evidence of that identity. If you're interested in self-concept, self-confidence, personal development, mindset, identity transformation, Future Self psychology, alter egos and becoming your best self, this episode explores how real change begins with the person you believe yourself to be. 0:00 Upgrading Your Self Concept Intro1:57 Your Future Self Now 4:15 The Alter Ego Effect 7:29 Main Character Energy 👋🏽 Hi, I'm Dianne - personal brand coach, consultant and speaker for emerging leaders, executives and entrepreneurs.
