Christ came to destroy sin; when Christ comes again, He will take us home. - Hebrews 9:26b-28 - “But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, 28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. - 1 John 3:4-10 - “Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in Him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. (None of all that abide in Him sins; all who sins none seen or knows Him.) Many of us, when we come across words that are used to describe sin, read four particular words. Transgression, Iniquity, Sin, and Lawlessness. These four words, though they are all sin and expressions of sin, are different not only in definition but in act. All four of these express a deep hatred of God. Transgression (pesa / pasa): To rebel or revolt against God.Iniquity (avon): bend, twist, distort / (ava) perversity, depravity, Sin (hata): To miss the mark, way, standard.Lawless (anomia): to break, violate, or contempt for the law; wickednessWe are the righteousness of God in Christ - 2 Corinthians 5:21 - “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” - 1 John 3:7-8 - “7 Little children, let no one deceive (cause to stray or lead into error) you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. 8 Whoever (ho: definitive article the; English idiom: the who or the one) makes a practice (to do, commit, produce) of sinning is of the devil, (to depend upon in thought and action) for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared (see verse 5) was to destroy the works (take away sin; Romans 6:6-7, Colossians 2:13-15) of the devil. (Genesis 3, Isaiah 14:12-14) Children of God practice righteousness and love one another. - Romans 12:9-10 - “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” - 1 John 3:9-10 - No one (pas: all) born (gennao: begotten, caused, or produced) of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed (the Holy Spirit abiding within the soul by which we are regenerate and made children of God) abides in him; and he cannot (dynamai: to be able, have power) keep on sinning, because (since) he has been born of God.10 By this it is evident (clear, apparent, visible, manifest) who are (exist) the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever (all) does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.”
