Lipstick on Teeth | Giving and Receiving Admonishment

Nobody enjoys correction, but it's necessary for growth in Christ. Join Elizabeth Giles and Monika Walker as they consider how to give and receive admonishment/correction, in light of   Psalm 141:5.  David doesn't want even a trace of wickedness to cling to him. He sees wickedness all around him, and his heart is deeply concerned that he not follow that path. He welcomes and even asks for admonishment so that his life may be righteous and holy. He recognizes that God's standard is holiness and that he falls far short of it. He says that admonishment is both a kindness and a source of healing for him. We too should humble ourselves when admonished and take that correction to Scripture and wise counsel. Don't dismiss it too quickly before it has had the chance to do its work. Instead, humbly go before the Lord and allow admonishment to bring about the sanctification it was meant to produce. ________________________ When this is the day  a friend tells you there's lipstick on your teeth, be thankful. A friend isn't telling you that to mock you, embarrass you, or hurt you. They genuinely want to see you grow in the faith, and you likewise should receive admonishment with a humble heart of thanksgiving. ________________________ Resources: Visit our shop for super one-of-a-kind designs that promote gospel centered conversations. Sending Good Thoughts | Loving Others in Trials

Have you ever been in the midst of pain, and someone's words to you caused more hurt, instead of help? We are called to season our words with grace, as Colossians 4:6 instructs, so that we know how to respond to each person. What we say, and how we say it, truly matters. It has the power to heal or to hurt. We speak Scripture to encourage others, but we must use it appropriately, as Ephesians 4:29 teaches, tailoring our words to fit the situation. When unsure of how to respond in a conversation, it's wise to pray for guidance. And if nothing comes to mind, sometimes the best thing to do is simply listen. Often, listening is more comforting than any words we could speak. If we are wise, our words will bring life and refreshment to those who hear them.  ________________________ When this is the day  someone in your life is hurting, remember the power of your words. Proverbs 12:18 warns, "There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." Let your words be wise, gentle, and full of grace. Speak with sweetness and care, as Proverbs 16:24 says, "Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body." ________________________ Resources: When You See Box Set Board book by Becki Dudley  Visit our shop for super one-of-a-kind designs that promote gospel centered conversations. Astronauts, Doctors, and Lawyers, Oh my! | Training Up Children

What if one of the most influential things you ever do is happening right now in the daily work of raising your children? In this episode, we take a clear and practical look at Proverbs 22:6 and what it means to train children up in the way they should go. Solomon wrote Proverbs to teach his children, reminding us that parents are the primary disciplers, while grandparents, church leaders, and mentors come alongside to reinforce truth. We discuss how children are shaped and imprinted over time through consistent teaching, godly example, correction, and a steady diet of God's Word. This encouraging conversation reminds us that Proverbs 22:6 is a principle - not a guarantee - but faithful parenting is never wasted, no matter the outcome. ________________________ When this is the day you're tired, you have cramps, you have too much to do, and you just want to phone in the day, remember that kids are a gift from the Lord, Psalm 127. And we must steward that gift well.  1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received a gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God ________________________ Resources: The Remarkable Bible Word Search Book Visit our shop for super one-of-a-kind designs that promote gospel centered conversations. Give me this Day What I Want | Praying in Parenthood

Prayer is another principle of "one anothering" in Scripture. We often think of prayer as simply getting on our knees to ask God for something. But this word for prayer means more than that - it means to seek, ask, beg, or implore.  The prayer described in this passage is fervent and continuous, actively bringing about change. The person seeking the Lord is a righteous man who loves God, knows he is a sinner, and believes in the work of Christ on the cross, following Him faithfully. The powerful prayer of this righteous man is very effective. James gives us the example of Elijah, who prayed for the rain to stop and then, three and a half years later, prayed for it to return. We must diligently pray for others in this same way. It brings encouragement and refreshment to the soul of the person for whom we pray - and to our own hearts. ________________________ When this is the day you want to righteously bring up your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, then get so deeply acquainted with the Word of God that it is never far from your lips. Pray for obedience to God's law; that is His will for you as a believer. ________________________ Resources: Face to Face: Praying the Scriptures for Intimate Worship Paperback by Kenneth D. You're Invited | Hospitality

Understanding what hospitality means in hosting is so important. Not because we need to be women who know how to whip up a gorgeous charcuterie tray and have the right conversational layout in our living rooms, but because of the very opposite - we are commanded to be hospitable, and we should be able to do that well within our homes. One meaning, many applications. Today we're going to zoom in on the application of hospitality in hosting. 1 Peter 4:9 - Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. Romans 12:13b  - Seek to show hospitality. ________________________ When this is the day you feel like you aren't rooted in your church, invite someone over to share a meal. When this is the day you feel on the outskirts of the church body, invite someone over to share a meal. When this is the day you wish you had more friends at church, invite someone over to share a meal. You get the point. Inviting someone over and sharing a meal with them, is the best way to show hospitality, and a great way to work towards knowing and being known, seeing and being seen. ________________________ Resources: Wait: Waiting on God in a World that Won't Wait by Smedly Yates What's Good? Speaking Christianese | Terminology

Do you ever use words without really knowing what they mean? Do you speak "Christianese"? It's important to study the historical and cultural background of words so we can interpret them correctly and understand what we're truly saying. Yet, like the imperfect and sometimes careless people we are, we often use words based on their connotations rather than their true meanings. Today, we're going to look at four words that many of us have spoken - and certainly sung - to better understand their full significance. Our hope is that the next time we use them, they will carry deeper meaning for us, and reflect better, the glory of our Savior. The four words we'll explore are: Gloria, Hallelujah, Amen, and Bless. ________________________ When this is the day you end your prayer with "Amen," remember that you are declaring your belief that your words are heard by the one true and powerful God. You are affirming His character and trusting Him to hear and answer according to His will. You are not simply finishing a prayer, and it is not about naming and claiming everything you want to happen. "Amen" is an act of worship to the righteous Creator and Ruler of all. ________________________ Resources: Worship: The Ultimate Priority by John MacArthur Visit our shop for super one-of-a-kind designs that promote gospel centered conversations.
