When Hell Answers to Heaven (The Fifth Trumpet | First Woe) | | Revelation 9:1-12 | Matthew Maher

As the fifth trumpet sounds, Revelation moves into a new phase of judgment known as the first woe. A fallen star is given the key to the bottomless pit, smoke rises from the abyss, and a terrifying army of demonic locusts emerges to torment those who do not belong to God. These are not ordinary locusts. They have crowns like gold, faces like men, hair like women, teeth like lions, breastplates of iron, and tails like scorpions. Their king bears a chilling name: Abaddon in Hebrew and Apollyon in Greek—both meaning "Destroyer." Yet beneath the horror of this passage lies a powerful truth: hell does not operate independently of heaven. The fallen star is given a key. The locusts are given authority. Their torment is limited to five months. Even in judgment, God remains completely sovereign. In this message, we explore: The Fifth Trumpet Judgment (Revelation 9:1-12) The identity of the fallen star The meaning of the bottomless pit (abyss) The terrifying locust army Abaddon/Apollyon: the king called Destroyer Why these judgments are called "woes" God's sovereignty over hell and judgment The contrast between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of Christ Revelation 9 reminds us that every kingdom reflects its king. The kingdom of the Destroyer produces destruction. The kingdom of Christ produces life. The First Four Trumpets: Mother Nature Answers To Father God | Revelation 8:6-13 | Matthew Maher

The silence of heaven has ended. In Revelation 8, the prayers of the saints rise before God, and heaven responds with judgment. As the first four trumpets sound, the land, sea, waters, and heavens are struck one by one. Why are these judgments limited to one-third? What do they reveal about God's justice and mercy? And what happens when the very creation mankind worships becomes an instrument in the hand of its Creator? In this message, we explore the first four trumpet judgments and discover a powerful truth: Creation does not answer to man. Creation answers to God. Passage: Revelation 8:7-13 In This Message: • The first four trumpet judgments • Connections to the plagues of Exodus • Why judgment is limited to one-third • God's mercy in the midst of wrath • The danger of worshiping creation rather than the Creator • How believers can stand firm in a shaking world Key Truth: "The safest place in a shaking world is not confidence in creation, government, technology, wealth, or human ingenuity. The safest place is under the authority of the Creator Himself." Be sure to subscribe to the Landmark Church YouTube Channel and wherever you access podcasts to stay updated on all upcoming sermons.
