In 1968 a new road opened that allowed for high-speed travel coast-to-coast. You just had to not mind 80 miles of a dangerous two-lane road laden with snakes, panthers and alligators. Original names tossed around were the Everglades Parkway, Swamp Pike and Alligator Lane but there was really only one choice.     Jimmy Buffett: Sunset in Margaritaville
