Happy New Year, big music lover fans! I’m so excited to be back educating and entertaining you all about criminally underrated Black artists! However this episode is the first to discuss criminally underrated Black groups! To start off, we decided to talk about The Sylvers! A musical family dynasty from Memphis, Tennessee and moved to Los Angeles in the late 1960s. From then on, The Sylvers became one of the most popular family groups in the 70s with hits like Wish That I Could Talk to You, Boogie Fever, Hot Line and many more! Join Kevaun as he discusses their history, personal struggles, and especially their incredible music! The Sylvers, here are your flowers! 💐 From left to right: Edmund, James, Angie, Charmaine, Pat, Ricky, Leon, Olympia, and Foster Sylvers. This episode is dedicated to Edmund Sylvers. May his legacy continue to live on in music. 🤍🎶 Edmund Theodore Sylvers January 25th, 1957- March 11th, 2004 SUBSCRIBE TO THE NEW PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/LiberationofBlackMusicPodcast?utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator TLOBMP Socials: Email: liberationofblackmusicpodcast@gmail.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/liberationofblackmusicpodcast/ YouTube: https://youtube.com/@theliberationofblackmusicpod?si=YrtjTKEHdCeD2oAi TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@liberationblackmusicpod?_t=ZP-90pVhZ7Ecdr&_r=1 Kevaun’s Socials: IG: https://www.instagram.com/kevaunthesunflower?igsh=dzIzcDFicHBldHlj TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@kevaunthesunflower?_t=ZP-90pVdR9stEU&_r=1 YouTube: https://youtube.com/@kevaunthesunflower?si=A_zR1EXUNndAsMo_ SoundCloud: https://on.soundcloud.com/YRhFbAx1ne2XMEu68 Twitch: https://m.twitch.tv/kevaunthesunflower/home Timestamps 0:01 American Bandstand Interview with The Sylvers in 1975 2:58 The Liberation of Black Music Podcast Intro 4:01 Welcome back, everyone!/ Updates 7:13 My Experience with The Sylvers 8:26 Early Life and Start 10:41 The Little Angels Era 14:13 Career Moves 14:39 I’m Just a Lonely Soul (Single, 1971) 15:01 Time to Ride (Single, 1971) 16:03 Wish That I Could Talk to You (The Sylvers, 1972) 16:28 Fool’s Paradise (The Sylvers, 1972) 16:52 I’ll Never Be Ashamed (The Sylvers, 1972) 17:45 Misdemeanor (Foster Sylvers, 1973) 18:28 Through the Love in My Heart (The Sylvers II, 1973) 18:58 Stay Away from Me (The Sylvers II, 1973) 20:30 Wish You Were Here (The Sylvers III, 1974) 20:53 Don’t Give Up the Good Life (The Sylvers III, 1974) 21:17 Even This Shall Pass Away (The Sylvers III, 1974) 21:47 Be My Love (The Sylvers III, 1974) 22:19 Love Me Tender (Foster Sylvers featuring Pat and Angie Sylvers, 1974) 23:11 Cotton Candy (Showcase, 1975) 23:50 Boogie Fever (Showcase, 1975) 24:41 Hot Line (Something Special, 1976) 25:05 High School Dance (Something Special, 1976) 25:49 Tragedy Ensues 26:28 New Horizons (New Horizons, 1977) 27:12 Any Way You Want Me (New Horizons, 1977) 28:11 Don’t Stop, Get Off (Forever Yours, 1978) 28:45 Forever Yours (Forever Yours, 1978) 29:24 Disco Fever (1979) 30:44 That Burnin’ Love (Have You Heard, 1980) 31:03 Back to the Music 31:51 Come Back, Lover, Come Back (Concept, 1981) 32:20 P.S.
