A down on her luck woman tries her best to break back into society by getting a nannying job that doesn't exactly go as planned. There's twists, turns, possible murder, Cheesecake Factory, actual murder, ouija boards, and lots and lots of pictures. Can Mallory unravel the mystery in which she's found herself entangled before it's too late? Let's see!  At the next meeting we'll be discussing "Black Sheep" by Rachel Harrison. Go find a copy.

    Meeting 3: "Tender is the Flesh"

    Send us a text In this meeting of That Damned Book Club we discuss "Tender Is the Flesh" by Agustina Bazterrica. What would happen if meat was no longer an option? It's all gone. Almost all animals are nothing but a distant memory. What would happen in our modern, civilized society? Cannibalism of course! Bazterrica's superbly crafted novel delves deep into this near-future dystopia in order to hold a mirror to our present selves, and we're all better (and a little nauseous) because of it.     Meeting 2: "What Moves the Dead"

    Send us a text In this meeting of That Damned Book Club we discuss "What Moves the Dead" by T. Kingfisher. It's a twisted retelling of "The Fall of the House of Usher," and we loved it. It maintains the gothic horror feel of source material while giving it a few new interesting updates. We learned that it's also now the first book in a series, so we're interested to see where the story goes. In our opinion though, this book can stand on its own. At the next meeting we'll be discussing "Tender is the Flesh" by Augustina Bazterrica. Pick up a copy.

    Send us a text Welcome to the inaugural meeting of That Damned Book Club. We're discussing "How to Sell a Haunted House" by Grady Hendrix. Hendrix is already a modern horror star who has penned the smash hits "My Best Friend's Exorcism," "Horrorstor," "The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires," and more. With "Haunted House" he brings us on a journey through a family's exploration of grief and loss wrapped up in a fun layer of fright. We dig into the meat of it to decide if it's our favorite new horror novel. At the next meeting we'll be discussing "What Moves the Dead" by T. Kingfisher. Pick up a copy.
