England 070s retain Silver Ashes plus 060s Lions in India

Here we are in the middle of February and there's lots of O60s and O70s Cricket to talk about. Grant also fills us in on ‘Cricket on Ice’ which sounds like some sort of celebrity TV reality show but in actual fact is proper cricket played in St Moritz with our favourite commentator and umpire team involved – Rash and Mel Mahmood. It's your final chance to win a copy of Roland Butcher's book 'Breaking Barriers - Barbados to England and back’. If you know the answer to the question we set the beginning of the episode then send your answer to podcast@trevorjlee.com We have a quick look back at the England O60s Lions tour of India and then focus on the fantastic effort by the England O70s who whitewashed their Australian hosts in their own backyard to retain the Silver Ashes and now look forward to defending the O70s World Cup in Christchurch New Zealand. It's an 8 team tournament featuring England, USA, India, Canada, Australia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and a Rest of the World team. Everybody plays everybody in a round robin format with matches every two days starting on the 18th of February - 10am New Zealand time which is 9 pm on the 17th of February here in the UK The top two teams from the round robin stage meet in the final on March 5th at the Hagley Oval - a ground which hosted its first Test match on Boxing Day 2014 and on day one a certain Brendan McCullum scored 195 off 134 balls v Sri Lanka.  Will we see a repeat of that kind of innings in the O70s final?  Here are various links you can use to follow all the action: https://www.instagram.com/over70sworldcup/  INSTAGRAM https://www.facebook.com/over70sworldcup/  FACEBOOK https://www.imco70cwc.kiwi/       IMC O70 CWC WEBSITE   https://www.youtube.com/@Over70sWorldCup-z6p    LIVESTREAMING OF 19 MATCHES https://www.vcnz.org/  VETERANS CRICKET NEW ZEALAND WEBSITE  https://live.nvplay.com/nz   LIVESCORING   Go to  Fixtures  IMC O70 Cricket World Cup   Silver Stumps now has a small website which you can find at https://www.silverstumps.com/ - it features all the episodes and a little bit about Grant and Trevor, the co-hosts of the podcast.    If you've got feedback or observations about the podcast or ideas for future guests please drop us an email to podcast@trevorjlee.com or press ‘send us a text’ at the bottom of these notes - please include your name and contact details as otherwise we don't know who the message is from.  Send us a text Send a text Silver Stumps is the podcast aimed at Over 60s and Over 70s Cricketers. Scotland Seniors Cricket catch up Clark McConnachie

In this episode Clark McConnachie, captain of Scotland Seniors O60s, reflects on a first year as Scotland Seniors and members of the IMC and looks ahead to Scotland playing in the O60s World Cup for the first time in August 2026 in Toronto.  Not only have they re-branded - previously all their matches were under the banner of the Forty Club - but earlier in the year Scotland Seniors became the 15th country to join the International Masters Cricket organisation. Scotland Seniors covers all ‘Masters’ ages groups under one roof - O40s, O50s, O60s and at some point going forward O70s.  The Scotland O60s played pre-season matches in April against Lancashire, Yorkshire and Durham/Northumberland. This was followed with matches in May against England and the England Lions and then a memorable full international against Australia at Stirling with final international matches in the Tri-Nations against Wales, England Lions and England - although the latter was cancelled due to adverse weather.  On a recent episode (87) we had the amazing Ron Hedley talking about his fantastic  cricket tour to the Vatican and the incredible fundraising for prostate cancer awareness which has raised almost £80,000.
