The Bible Unbound - Book of Revelation

Jim

Unravel with us, the profound and mysterious narratives that lie within the pages of the world's most revered text: The Bible. Our current series:  The book of Revelation Statement of Faith The Bible: We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is the final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21). The Trinity: We believe in one eternal God, existing in three distinct persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—equal in essence, power, and glory (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). God the Father: We believe God the Father is the Creator and Sovereign Ruler of all things, perfect in holiness, justice, love, and mercy (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 103:19; Isaiah 6:3). Jesus Christ: We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitutionary atonement for sin, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return in power and glory (John 1:1-14; Luke 1:34-35; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-16). Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, who convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers, indwells, empowers, and guides them into all truth, and seals them for salvation (John 16:7-13; Titus 3:5; Ephesians 1:13; Acts 1:8). Humanity and Sin: We believe humanity was created in the image of God but fell into sin through Adam’s disobedience, resulting in spiritual death and total depravity. All people are born sinners, separated from God, and in need of salvation (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12). Salvation: We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is a gift of God, not by works, secured through Jesus’ atoning death and resurrection. Repentance and faith are necessary for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16; Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9-10). The Church: We believe the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all true believers, called to worship God, edify one another, and proclaim the Gospel to the world. The Church observes two ordinances: believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Ephesians 4:11-13). Sanctity of Life and Marriage: We believe human life is sacred, beginning at conception, and that marriage is a God-ordained covenant between one man and one woman, reflecting Christ’s relationship with the Church (Psalm 139:13-14; Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:22-33). Resurrection and Judgment: We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved—those who are saved to eternal life with God, and those who are unsaved to eternal punishment in hell (John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:11-15). Second Coming: We believe in the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ to establish His kingdom, judge the world, and consummate God’s redemptive plan (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 22:12-13).

The Book of Revelation #114 - 17:6-18 THE DRAMA OF MYSTERY BABYLON - THE GREAT BETRAYAL

Send us Fan Mail Today's episode brings us back to chapter 17 of the book of Revelation, where we see the unfolding drama of Mystery Babylon -- the mother of harlots.  Today, we consider the intense plot or the story of this great drama as it unfolds. Revelation 17:7-18. "When I saw her, I marveled greatly. 7 But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come. 9 This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; 10 they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. 11 As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. 12 And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast. 14 They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.”  15 And the angel said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages. 16 And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire, 17 for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman that you saw is the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth.”  If you wish to contact me with any comments, questions, suggestions, etc please feel free to write to my email:  jmrgrs9@gmail.com

The Book of Revelation #112 - 17:1-6. MYSTERY BABYLON - THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS (intro)

Send us Fan Mail Today's episode brings us to chapter 17 of the book of Revelation, where we see the astounding introduction to the sight of a harlot sitting up the great beast -- the beast whom we met in Rev. 13.   This introductory episode will pave the way for seeing the horros and judgment of Mystery Babylon -- the mother of harlots. Revelation 17:1. "Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who is seated on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality, and with the wine of whose sexual immorality the dwellers on earth have become drunk.” 3 And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality. 5 And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth’s abominations.” 6 And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.  When I saw her, I marveled greatly If you wish to contact me with any comments, questions, suggestions, etc please feel free to write to my email:  jmrgrs9@gmail.com

The Book of Revelation #108 - THE STUNNING ONTOLOGY OF THE LAMB

Send us Fan Mail The church is in dire straights as we see fault lines threatening to divide her into pieces.  It seems that the charismatic church is undergaing severe exposure, and the Evangelical church is dividing ever things like "Christian Zionism".   Into this sadly  impure mixture, we want to contribute the healing message of the Lamb, but not just the lamb as we are familiar with seeing Him (this is a study of the book of Revelation after all,) but of the stunning ONTOLOGY of the Lamb.  What is at the essential heart of this great Being who is about to crush all evil? (Chaps 17-20). Along with texts from Revelation itself, we get a little help from the Apostle Paul who contributes greatly to the ontology of the lamb with his writings in the book of Collosians: Col. 1:15-20:  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.  If you wish to contact me with any comments, questions, suggestions, etc please feel free to write to my email:  jmrgrs9@gmail.com
