This is Mom Chat with Mamistad, and I'm Cynthia. In 2005, I created Mamistad as a hobby to help first-time moms connect and share the journey. Now, with thousands of mom members and counting in DC, Austin, and Denver, and having welcomed thousands of babies, I realize it's no longer a hobby. It's a necessity. We are still here growing and expanding to new cities. We're still here celebrating and commiserating because honestly, that's what it's all about. We all face ups and downs in motherhood. I promise, it's not just you. So join us because it's time to push the boundaries and see moms for who we really are, some of the most incredible creatures on the planet. Having a baby touches every aspect of a birthing person's life. Honoring MATRESCENCE as a rite of passage into motherhood means acknowledging that becoming a mother is a major transformation that can take many forms: physical, spiritual, emotional, economic. They can affect your body, your relationships, your values, your identity, your career. The possibilities are endless. Making space for them allows us the freedom to accept, understand, and embrace our new and improved selves, even if we don't feel new and improved right away. Welcoming a new baby goes well beyond the registry. It means caring for our mental health, building a strong support system, and making space for the new thoughts and feelings that emerge as we prepare to open the amazing technicolor door of motherhood. Until we fully respect this journey, some new moms will continue to suffer silently and often unnecessarily. Isolation during pregnancy and new motherhood is quicksand. In a time where the village of yesterday is fading quickly, we need to build our own villages by connecting with resources and other moms. With a little knowledge beforehand, we can likely save ourselves a lot of struggle later. Through The Mamistad Village of Providers, we have access to many amazing experts in the perinatal space, and many of them will share their knowledge with us here. Other experts and many other moms will join us too. We will learn that there is not one right way to give birth and care for a baby. We all have our own unique journeys and judging our fellow moms' journey does nothing to enhance our own. As we share our joys, struggles, challenges, and triumphs, we also learn to appreciate the brilliance of our fellow moms. Mom Chat is where we celebrate it. So whether you're a Mamistad mom or not, we want you to be a part of the conversation. And remember: women are incredible, moms are limitless, and a sisterhood of moms is a force of nature.
