History 102 with WhatifAltHist's Rudyard Lynch and Austin Padgett

Bruh. Rasputin was not Catholic (if by that you mean Roman Catholic). I really like how yall trace threads through the maze of history, but (like many modern intellectuals) you seem to have a flippant appreciation of the Minotaur lurking. I suppose yall would have a healthy disdain for the “spiritual but not religious” camp. However, I think this podcast sometimes goes too far in the opposite direction. Indeed Christianity has been historically important, yet more important—is it true?? Perhaps Austin indulges his (typically American) anti-catholic bias, because he associates the church his bureaucracy. I think he should careful that his justified hatred does not cloud his search for truth, beauty and goodness. The church is a military. Modern militaries do require a limited bureaucracy.

My wife and I have enjoyed a couple of episodes so far. We find the content informative and engaging. However, we aspire to have children and homeschool them. Tragically, some of the random F-bombs and “rape” slang usage make the episode unfit for younger years, which hurts the show’s reach unnecessarily so. It’s early enough to clean up the content; please do!

He is the Ben Shapiro or Jordan Peterson of historians. Genius level stuff. The ability to put together a big picture across centuries and philosophies is astonishing. I’m so grateful I discovered this podcast.
