    Did My Dad Abandon Me?

    My story about my father has been extremely contradicting for many years. His absence left me confused, understanding, remorseful, hurt and forgiving simultaneously. For years i didn't know how to feel and for years i disregarded how i felt so i wouldn't make him feel bad for his addiction and being an absent parent. "YOU NEED TO CALL YOUR DAD" makes me tear up just typing it, because i was given so much guilt for not being there as often as i could have when my dad was dying of alcohol addiction, cancer of the liver. I was unconsciously rebelling because no one ever guilted him and told him "YOU SHOULD CALL YOUR DAUGHTER" I ate that guilt and also missed my opportunity to be there for and with my dad and create a healthy relationship while he was alive. I've had to release so much guilt and regret for not being emotionally and spiritually mature enough to know how to meet him where he was & not allow resentment to rob me of an opportunity to get to know him deeper. This passage is just an acknowledgment of the many phases of understanding and healing i've had to do to create a healthy relationship with him in spirit. Order my book at www.     Dear Momma

    My momma and i have always had a beautiful relationship from day one. She got sober for me. She'll be 30yrs sober the same day i'll be 6 years sober. March 27. Now that i think about it, march is mine and my mothers sobriety birthday & our REBIRTH & our new year. (March is the new year, spring equinox is the symbol of rebirth in mother nature). My mom has supported me through everything and is the reason i ever thought to write a book. From a very young age she would always remind me, not to waste my pain, make sure i see the lesson in everything that happens & write about it because one day it will be valuable in some way. This passage is an acknowledgment to her & a thank you to her being the best mother i could have ever ever ever asked for.     Always Forward

    When I joined the military (Army) there was a saying we were programmed to say whenever someone would say THANK YOU we responded "Always Forward" i was extremely young then, so i didn't understand the meaning. As i got older, always forward, never backward stood out to me like a sore thumb. The forward on my book was written by my husband who is a phenomenal writer. This section is an ode to the past versions of ourselves that still live loudly within our being but we have ignored, detached from and disregarded. This chapter is a reflection of what it feels like to turn and face the parts of yourself you've hidden from for years.
