Christina Hobbs started her own super fund

Christina Hobbs seemed the perfect choice to kickstart this series profiling women passionately pushing to transform superannuation in Australia. She’s an entrepreneur and the founder of Verve Superannuation, Australia’s first superannuation fund for women.  Rather than transforming the system from within, she sought to do something entirely different and start Australia’s first superannuation for women, Verve Super. Christina shared her career story just weeks after Future Super acquired Verve Super, and following an impressive rise for Verve that has seen Christina winning a large lineup of awards, including being named Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year at our 2018 Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards.  Christina outlines the career that brought her to entrepreneurship, which included ten years working for the United Nations on complex humanitarian emergencies. She shares why she came to focus on super in Australia and the power of super to create better outcomes for Australians, including on climate change. This is episode one of the Spotlight series, where we examine key industry areas to profile women building game-changing and influential careers with purpose, thanks to our partnership with Grant Thornton Australia. This is a partner podcast series. Spotlight On Women is produced by Agenda Media, publisher of Women's Agenda. You can check out our other podcasts, including The Crux and The Leadership Lessons. Hosted on Acast.
