The Next Chapter of My Chickasaw Journey - It's Finally Time!

The Next Chapter of My Chickasaw Journey - Episode 19After almost a year away from public view, Sherrie returns to share what happened during one of the most difficult seasons of her life, and what was happening behind the scenes. After experiencing several losses within her family and helping navigate the transition of moving her mother into a nursing home, Sherrie needed time to grieve and support her family. But the pause in public activity wasn't a pause in her Chickasaw language work.During that time, she returned to a massive project that had been 14 years in the making and completed the entire Zero to Hero Chickasaw Grammar Essentials program. In this episode, Sherrie reflects on how that accomplishment connects to a Chickasaw language journey that began when her father told her, as a young girl, that she needed to learn her language. She also looks ahead to the next chapter - including new Chickasaw songs, books, manuscripts, language projects, and other creations waiting to be shared.Three Key Takeaways1. A season of stepping away doesn't necessarily mean you're standing still.Sometimes life requires us to pause publicly while important work continues quietly behind the scenes.2. A long journey can become clearer when you look backward.Five decades of studying, teaching, writing, researching, and creating may have felt like separate steps at the time. Looking back, Sherrie can now see one connected path.3. Completing one major project can create space for what's next. The completion of Zero to Hero Chickasaw Grammar Essentials isn't the end of Sherrie's Chickasaw language work. It's creating a foundation for new songs, books, language resources, and creative projects.Resources Mentioned• Zero to Hero Chickasaw Grammar Essentials — self-paced Chickasaw grammar course• Chickasaw Online Language Arts — courses and Chickasaw language learning resources• Chickasaw Classes YouTube channel — Chickasaw language lessons, songs, and other content• Sherrie's Chickasaw Christmas song Continue the JourneyIf you're ready to deepen your understanding of Chickasaw grammar, explore Zero to Hero Chickasaw Grammar Essentials and the other resources available through Chickasaw Online Language Arts.Visit Chickasaw Online Language ArtsChokma'shki for listening and for being part of this journey.
