The Unfiltered Therapists

Jess Ward, Kay Foster

We're two Midwestern therapists that tell it like it is. Our podcast focuses on topics we find interesting, while tying it back to mental health and our own clinical experience. We know therapy can be intimidating and scary, but it doesn't have to be. We know it's important to show up authentically in order to build the strongest relationships with our clients. And this podcast is no different. We hope you learn something new while we keep it real and totally unfiltered.

    26: All Things ADHD

ADHD is one of those hot topics on social media that is often trending but misunderstood. As therapists who see clients with ADHD regularly, and therapists with our own diagnoses, we hope this episode is helpful in identifying what ADHD is and how you might see this showing up in yourself or the people in your life. And as ADHD impacts nearly every part of functioning, there are so many trailheads to navigate. We will be covering more of these in future episodes, but if you have any particular interests or questions related to ADHD, send us a message! We'd love to hear from you! 25: Things People Are Afraid to Tell Their Therapist

It's one thing to feel comfortable enough to share your worries and your joys with your therapist. It's a whole other thing to feel comfortable enough to share those parts of you that no one else gets to see; the embarrassing moments, the traumas you've experienced, the things you're most ashamed of, the parts of you that you worry will be judged most harshly. In this episode, we share some of things that people are most afraid to tell their therapist. And full disclosure, there are a lot of sensitive subjects that come up in this conversation: suicidal/homicidal ideation, self-harm, abuse, substance use, and more. If these are triggers for you, please skip ahead and be sure to prioritize your mental health.
