Robert (Robbie) Whittall: 113 mins of Unhinged conversations with The Man Behind Ozone Paragliders

Robbie Whittall is one of the most influential figures in the sport of paragliding Most people know him as co-founder and test pilot of Ozone, all in all he is someone who has been a pioneer from back inthe day when it was all starting to get more fun and serious at the same time. But today I get to sit with him for a conversation that goes far beyond flying, in this heartfelt conversation we get to speak upon topics much less spoken about but much more thought about as individuals in our journey as pilots chasing the freedom of free flight. You may consider this as a philosophical conversation of some sorts where we touch upon topics such as: The difference between dedication and obsession (and why both matter) Why success, wealth and achievements will never bring true contentment The Ozone origin story how three passionate pilots built one of the most respected brands in the sport Why he traded adrenaline for gardening and meditation The moment in the Himalayas that made him realize his own insignificance How to say no to societal indoctrination (the power of being an individual) Why social media is a dopamine trap disguised as learning The joy of intermittent fasting and rejecting "normal" This is not our typical podcast episode, instead this is a conversation about life, purpose, passion, and finding peace in a noisy world. 🌍Soaring High Resources: Elevate Your Aerial Pursuits 👥 Stalk the Star: Official Webpage Rob Whittall | Ozone Paragliders Want to go beyond the episode? Metacognition: Paragliding's Hidden Psychology with Beni Kalin & Heli Schrempf

I promise one thing when you press play for this episode! And that is, that it doesn't matter whether you've been flying for 50 hours or 500 hours, this episode can and will change how you think about your flying.  For a while I've wanted to brainstorm with two of the finest minds when it comes to teaching in our sport, this made me reach out to longtime friends and former guests Heli & Beni where we managed to have an in depth talk on what healthy progression in flying actually looks like. We answer questions like:  Why most pilots skip steps- How not to progress too fastWhy "going with the collapse" saves you from twists (and why your harness might be blocking you)The truth about active flying: release tension, don't blockAsymmetric collapse management: when to brake, when to waitWhy pilots freeze instead of throwing their reserve (loss aversion, adrenaline)Fear injury: how one scare can live in your brain for 10+ yearsThe Dunning Kruger effect in paragliding: peak of ignorance → valley of despair → true expertiseHalf-face vs. full-face helmets: is peripheral vision worth the risk? Why instructors need to explain the "why" not just say "don't do it"Parakiting vs. paragliding: different flight envelopes, different controlThe "Killing Zone" why 50-200 hour pilots are most at risk 🌍Soaring High Resources: Elevate Your Aerial Pursuits What is Dunning Kruger Effect 👥 Stalk the Stars: Official Websites Beni | Heli Instagram Heli | Beni Want to go beyond the episode?
