From Psychology Dropout to Systems Architect: Greg Provo's Unconventional Path to 6 Figures in Tech

Join us for an inspiring tech testimonial with Greg Provo, a Systems Architect and Software Engineer who turned a nonlinear educational path into a thriving career at the cutting edge of technology. In this episode, Greg shares how he went from studying psychology in Louisiana — with no clear direction — to building data pipelines, designing enterprise systems, and now running his own tech consultancy. Greg takes us through his unconventional journey: community college exploration, a $5,000 online coding boot camp in 2017, 15 months of grinding to land his first web development role, and a calculated climb through organizations like LSU Online and Provi. Along the way, he drops gems on how to stand out in interviews, why smaller companies can accelerate your growth faster than the big names, and the critical importance of quantifying your impact at every step. This episode also dives deep into the financial mindset that matters most when you break into tech — avoiding lifestyle creep, investing early, and understanding that true wealth means buying your time back. Greg's mantra says it all: value learning over money, and time above all. Whether you're just starting out in tech, looking to level up your career, or trying to understand how AI is reshaping the industry, Greg's story and practical advice will challenge and inspire you to take action. Don't miss this episode — and if you're not using AI yet, Greg and the crew have a clear message: you're already falling behind.
