It has long served as a platform for advocacy, communication, and connection between incarcerated individuals, their families, and the broader community. Advocacy by The Prison Show helped persuade the Texas Legislature to approve telephones in TDCJ facilities in 2007, allowing incarcerated individuals greater access to their families. Texas was the last state to do so. After four years of negotiations with TDCJ and Securus, The Prison Show was approved for the Edovo App, providing free access to incarcerated individuals. Edovo is now available in 48 states and serves approximately 1.1 million incarcerated people. The people behind The Prison Show include formerly incarcerated individuals, teachers, professors, attorneys, chaplains, activists, advocates, family members, and community leaders united by the belief that those behind prison walls should not be forgotten. Through our staff, volunteers, guests, and community relationships, The Prison Show has connected with organizations including Death Row Angels, TX C.U.R.E., Texas Prisons Alliance, Texas Harm Reduction Alliance, Texas Incarcerated Families Association, End Mass Incarceration Houston, ACLU, Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, Death Penalty Action, Grassroots Leadership, TAJ – Texas Advocates for Justice, Lioness: Justice Impacted Women’s Alliance, Texas Voices for Reason and Justice, Rusty Diamond Network, attorneys Paul Morgan and Terry Peden, Pacifica Radio, and many others working in criminal justice, prison reform, reentry, harm reduction, family advocacy, and social justice. Our mission is to keep incarcerated individuals connected to their families and the outside world, while providing relevant news, success stories, interviews, and discussions about important cases and issues within the prison industrial complex. We strive to make the incarceration experience more humane. Your loved one wants to hear your voice. - Cowboy David Collingsworth The Prison Show is a nonprofit charitable organization, EIN 39-3056060, and a national multimedia radio program focused on communication and connection between incarcerated individuals and their families throughout prisons and jails.
