Episode 1 -- The Ideal Christian Loves

Season 6 of For the Love of the Church begins with a simple but searching question: What does Christlikeness actually look like? In this episode, Caleb and Dave introduce the theme of the season and begin with the first mark of the ideal Christian: love. Looking at passages like Romans 13:14, 1 Corinthians 13, James 1:26–27, John 13, and Ephesians 4:15, they discuss biblical love, servant-hearted care, motives, humility, and the hard but necessary work of speaking the truth in love. Christlikeness is not just knowing the right answers. It is loving, serving, caring, and sacrificing in a way that reflects Jesus.

Episode 2 -- The Ideal Christian Is Humble

In episode two of season six, Caleb and Dave continue their discussion of Christlikeness by looking at humility. What is humility? It is not pretending to be worthless, and it is not quietly fishing for compliments. Biblical humility begins with a right view of God, a right view of ourselves, and a right view of others. Looking at passages like Philippians 2, James 4, and 1 Peter 5, this episode explores the humility of Christ, the danger of pride, the grace God gives to the humble, and the way pride can blind us while humility helps us see clearly. Christlikeness is not self-exaltation, and it is not self-deprecation. It is learning to see ourselves rightly before God and walk in humble dependence on Him.

Episode 3 -- The Ideal Christian Actively Listens

In episode three of season six, Caleb and Dave continue their discussion of Christlikeness by talking about active listening. Listening is more than waiting for your turn to talk. It is an act of love, humility, and care. A Christlike believer listens to understand, listens before answering, and listens with a heart willing to be corrected by God's Word. Looking at passages like James 1, Proverbs 18, and Philippians 2, this episode explores why Christians should be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Active listening matters in marriage, ministry, friendship, church life, and especially in our response to Scripture. Christlikeness means learning to love others with our ears too.

Episode 4 -- The Ideal Christian Needs Other Believers

In episode four of season six, Caleb and Dave continue their discussion of Christlikeness by talking about why Christians need one another. God did not design believers to live as spiritual mavericks. We need other Christians to encourage us, strengthen us, correct us, carry burdens with us, and walk beside us as we follow Christ. Looking at passages like Ecclesiastes 4, Philippians 1, Amos 3, and Galatians 6, this episode explores why two are better than one, why a threefold cord is not quickly broken, and why the Christian life must be lived in community. Christlikeness is not rugged isolation. It is walking together, striving together, and helping one another make it home.

Episode 5 -- The Ideal Christian Is Proactively Present

In episode five of season six, Caleb and Dave continue their discussion of Christlikeness by talking about what it means to be proactively present in the lives of others. A Christlike believer does not simply wait for problems to explode and then react. Instead, he shows up, builds trust, encourages, prays, helps, confronts when necessary, and walks with others before the crisis comes. Looking at passages like Romans 5, Ephesians 4, Galatians 6, and Jude, this episode explores how Christ acted first in love, how every believer has a part in building up the body, and why loving confrontation must be done with humility, gentleness, and care. Christlikeness means being present, visible, and willing to minister before someone has to ask.

Episode 6 -- The Ideal Christian Spends Time in the Word

In episode six of season six, Caleb and Dave continue their discussion of Christlikeness by talking about the believer's time in the Word. The Bible is not merely something Christians read to check a box. It is God's sufficient, inspired, and life-shaping Word. It teaches us who God is, who we are, how to view the world, how to fight sin, and how to grow toward maturity in Christ. Looking at passages like Psalm 1, Psalm 19, 2 Timothy 3, Colossians 3, and Hebrews 4, this episode explores why the ideal Christian meditates on Scripture, values it more than gold, allows it to dwell richly in the heart, and submits to its searching work. Christlikeness grows as God's Word takes root in us.

Episode 7 -- The Ideal Christian Spends Time in Prayer

In this episode of season six, Caleb and Dave continue their discussion of Christlikeness by talking about prayer. Prayer can feel mysterious, difficult, and even confusing at times. If God is sovereign and already knows everything, why do we pray? Yet Scripture repeatedly calls believers to pray, bringing our requests, thanksgiving, praises, needs, burdens, and concerns before the Lord. Looking at passages like Matthew 6, 1 Timothy 2, Romans 5, and 1 Thessalonians 5, this episode explores the pattern of prayer, the honesty of prayer, the need to pray for all people, and the example of Jesus Himself. Christlikeness means living in humble dependence on God and learning to speak honestly with the Father who already knows and loves us.

Episode 8 -- The Ideal Christian Serves One Another

In the final episode of season six, Caleb and Dave conclude their discussion of Christlikeness by walking expositionally through Galatians 5:13–26. The ideal Christian does not use freedom in Christ as an excuse for the flesh. Instead, through love, he serves others. Paul shows that the Christian life is not lived by self-effort, legalism, or fleshly desire, but by walking in the Spirit. This episode explores freedom in Christ, loving service, the danger of biting and devouring one another, the works of the flesh, the fruit of the Spirit, and the believer's call to keep in step with the Spirit. Christlikeness means using our freedom not to serve ourselves, but to love and serve one another by the power of the Holy Spirit.
