    The Lord Goes Before You: Faithfulness, Godly Leadership, and the Shame of Inaction | Judges 4:10–24

    What happens when God's people are called to action but choose comfort instead? In Judges 4:10–24, we see the Lord deliver Israel from the Canaanite army through unlikely instruments—including Deborah, Barak, and Jael. Yet the account also exposes the shame of those who refuse to answer God's call. In this sermon from **Judges 4:10–24**, we examine the faithfulness of those who answered the call of the Lord, the unfaithfulness of those who preferred their own comfort, and the sovereignty of God in accomplishing His purposes through unexpected people. The account of Deborah, Barak, and Jael is more than a story of military victory. It is a sobering reminder that God's people are not called to sit comfortably on the sidelines while the work of His kingdom goes undone. **In this sermon, we consider:** - **The danger of comfortable unfaithfulness:** The tribes of Reuben, Gad, Dan, and Asher demonstrate what happens when personal comfort takes priority over the work God has given His people. - **Answering the call of Christ:** God's people are called to more than passive belief. We are called to faithfulness, obedience, worship, discipleship, and the advancement of Christ's kingdom. - **The responsibility of Christian men:** Barak's reluctance points us toward the responsibility husbands and fathers have to lead their households in the ways of the Lord. - **God's use of unlikely instruments:** Deborah and Jael demonstrate that God accomplishes His purposes even when the men who should be leading fail to answer the call. - **The sovereignty and glory of God:** Israel's victory was not ultimately the achievement of Barak, Deborah, or the army. The Lord went before them and secured the victory. - **Christlike leadership:** Biblical authority is not an excuse for harshness or domination. Christian husbands and fathers are called to lead through humble, sacrificial service, following the example of Christ. **A central challenge from this passage:** Christian men must lead their families toward Christ—not through selfish power or harshness, but through faithful, servant-hearted obedience to the Lord. And every Christian must recognize that our covenant with Christ comes before every other earthly allegiance. The Lord goes before His people.     The Reformation Is Not Finished: Reforming Our Lives by the Word of God | Reformation Day 2026

    The Protestant Reformation did not end in 1517. The truths recovered during the Reformation continue to shape the church and call Christians to reform every area of life according to the Word of God. In this Reformation Day message, we look beyond Martin Luther's famous 95 Theses to consider the providence of God in the Protestant Reformation, the recovery of the gospel, and the spiritual heritage we have received. We are reminded that the Reformation was never ultimately about one man, but about what God accomplished through the proclamation of His Word. From the sufficiency of Scripture and the sufficiency of Christ to salvation by grace alone through faith alone, we consider the foundational truths that transformed the church and brought Christian freedom to believers. But the need for reformation did not end with the sixteenth century. Romans 12:2 calls us not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. That reformation must begin in our own lives and families, extend into the church, and reach our communities, cities, states, and nations. **In this message, we consider:** - The historical circumstances that led to the Protestant Reformation - Martin Luther's 95 Theses and the biblical doctrine of repentance - The corruption of indulgences, penance, and the authority claimed by Rome - The central truths of the Reformation: Scripture alone, Christ alone, grace alone, faith alone, and the glory of God alone - The Christian's calling to serve as priest, prophet, and king under Christ - Why the church must continue reforming its life and practice according to Scripture - The need for godly leadership, sound theology, political protection, and the work of the Holy Spirit - Why we must pray for revival and the reformation of the church and our nation The question before us is not simply whether we appreciate the Reformation of the past, but whether we are willing to see our own lives, families, churches, and communities reformed by the Word of God. **The Scriptures are sufficient. Christ is sufficient.     Bearing One Another’s Burdens: Humility, Grace, and Restoring the Fallen | Galatians 6:1–5

    What should Christians do when a brother or sister falls into sin? Are we called to ignore their failures, condemn them, or walk away when church relationships become difficult? In Galatians 6:1–5, the Apostle Paul gives us a very different picture of Christian responsibility: we are called to restore one another in a spirit of gentleness, bear one another's burdens, and walk in humility. In this sermon, we examine the biblical responsibility Christians have toward one another and confront the pride that so often damages relationships within the church and our own households. Our increasingly individualistic society encourages us to discard relationships when they become difficult. But Scripture calls the people of God to something entirely different: a life marked by mutual care, patience, humility, and restoration. **In this sermon, we consider:** - Why the Christian faith is not an individualistic endeavor - What Paul means when he commands believers to restore those caught in sin - What it means to be spiritual and to walk by the Holy Spirit - The importance of gentleness when confronting the sins of others - How pride turns us into harsh judges and tyrants over those around us - Why we must examine ourselves rather than measure our righteousness against others - How bearing one another's burdens fulfills the law of Christ - How Christ's humility, mercy, and sacrifice establish the pattern for our relationships Christian restoration does not mean ignoring sin or abandoning church discipline. It means that even correction and discipline must be directed toward repentance and restoration. We must remember the extraordinary grace God has shown us and extend that same spirit of humility and patience to our brothers and sisters. **We do not make good gods.** Our standard is not ourselves, but Christ.     The Sovereign God and His Unlikely Instruments — Judges 4:1–9

    What happens when God's people are unfaithful, and their leaders hesitate to obey His commands? **Judges 4:1–9** reminds us that the Lord remains sovereign over His people and His purposes—even when human faith is weak. In this sermon, we examine God's call to Barak through Deborah and consider what this passage teaches us about **the sovereignty of God, human weakness, faith, obedience, and the Lord's power to deliver His people**. Israel had once again turned away from the Lord, and God raised up Deborah to deliver His command to Barak. Yet Barak hesitated, insisting that Deborah accompany him. His response raises important questions about trusting God's Word, obeying His calling, and relying on the Lord rather than our own strength. God's purposes do not depend on the strength or courage of men.
