    18. Gregory Whitehead

    Gregory Whitehead is an artist, writer, award-winning radiomaker, text/sound poet, singer of tales, playwright and media philosopher. His practice also draws from experiences as a lifelong vocalist and musician, puppet theatre, toy theater, installations and live performance, as well as numerous collaborations with choreographers and filmmakers. Since his first tape and radio experiments made during the 1980s, Whitehead has created a long list of plays, hybrid documentaries and acoustic adventures for the BBC, Radio France, Deutschland Radio, Australia’s ABC, NPR and other broadcasters. Whitehead co-edited the anthology Wireless Imagination: Sound, Radio and the Avant-Garde, published by MIT Press in 1992, and his philosophical essays and speculative fictions have appeared in a wide variety of publications, from Ear magazine in the early 1980s through to the recently published Oxford Handbook of Radio and Podcasting.  – – – Stories of Sound is an audio series that delves into sound arts and audio storytelling, offering listeners a window into the creative processes, challenges, and inspirations of artists, authors and theorists who tell stories through sound.     17. Su Friedrich

    Su Friedrich has directed twenty-seven films and videos since 1978, which have been featured in thirty-one retrospectives at major museums and film festivals including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Rotterdam Film Festival, the Buenos Aires Festival of Independent Cinema and the National Film Theater in London and they have been widely screened and extensively written.  Her work is the subject of two recent books: Su Friedrich: Interviews, edited by Sonia Misra and Rox Samer, Univ. of Mississippi Press (2022) and Su Friedrich by Barbara Mennel, Univ of Illinois Press (2023).  Her films have won numerous awards, including Grand Prix at the Melbourne Film Festival, Outstanding Documentary Award at Outfest and Best Narrative Film Award at the Athens International Film Festival.     16. Rikke Houd

    Rikke Houd is a Danish radio maker working in the field of crafted audio storytelling and documentary art. After completing an MA in Radio at Goldsmiths College in 1998, she worked for the Danish Montage Group and and has worked with sound and storytelling since – in radio and podcasts, theatre, exhibitions, and in collaboration with other artforms and fields. Rikke has produced work in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic and English and her award-winning work has been featured internationally. She co-founded the youth project Polar Radio and has initiated several transnational audio storytelling projects aiming to support geographical, linguistic and cultural minorities. She has also coached and taught workshops which focus on documentary storytelling and radiophonic awareness. Since 2022 she works as editor in chief of podcast for the Danish Association of the Blind.     John York is a British audiobook narrator and voice actor best known for his work on the audio erotica platform "Quinn". As well as narrating over three hundred audiobook titles, John also hosts the entertainment podcast "The Unsinkable Ship'.     14. JJJJJerome Ellis

    JJJJJerome Ellis is a disabled Grenadian-Jamaican-American artist, surfer, and person who stutters. Through music, performance, writing, video, and photography, Ellis asks what stuttering can teach us about listening, generosity, and justice. Ellis researches relationships among blackness, disabled speech, divinity, nature, sound, and time. Their debut album, The Clearing (2021), won the 2022 Anna Rabinowitz Prize, and it was released with an accompanying book published by Wendy’s Subway. JJJJJerome’s work has been presented, among others, by the Whitney Museum, Venice Biennale; Haus der Kunst; MASS MoCA and the Center for African American Poetry and Poetics. They have received commissions from the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, The Shed, and REDCAT.     13. Nanna Hauge Kristensen

    Nanna Hauge Kristensen is an audio producer and anthropologist based in Copenhagen. Her audio pieces move in the intersection of art, anthropology and documentary, and have won several international awards, including the Third Coast International Audio Award for Best Foreign Documentary, and the Grand Prix Marulic Documentary. She loves listening and exploring human life through sound.     12. Julie Shapiro

    Julie Shapiro is a career listener, audio champion, and creative consultant. She co-founded Audio Flux in 2023 with John DeLore. She has worked as Executive Producer at Canadaland, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and PRX’s Radiotopia, and she is currently working on a narrative podcast about pancreatic cancer. In 2000, she co-founded the Third Coast International Audio Festival, where as Artistic Director she nurtured a robust international listening culture. Shapiro currently serves on the Board of Directors for AIR (Association of Independents in Radio.)     11. George the Poet

    George the Poet is a London-born spoken word performer of Ugandan heritage. His innovative brand of musical poetry has won him critical acclaim both as a recording artist and social commentator and seen his work broadcast to billions of people worldwide. In 2019, his audio offering ‘Have You Heard George’s Podcast?’ won a prestigious Peabody Award and 5 Gold British Podcast Awards, including the highly-coveted Podcast of the Year. In 2021 The University of London presented George with an honorary doctorate in literature. George is now embarking on a PhD at UCL'S Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose.
