    Family Ties: Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Going—Stewardship, Sacred Knowledge, and Finding Your Voice Co-hosts Faridah Abdul-Tawwab Brown and Frank Abdul Shaheed open a new season of The Family Ties by reflecting on over 30 (Actually 31) prior episodes about the family as a necessary institution for human flourishing, then shifting to “where we’re going” amid 21st-century challenges for the human family. Faridah recaps taking their teenage daughters with relatives to Senegal so they could study Quran memorization, experience a society prioritizing sacred knowledge, develop responsibility and self-sufficiency, and gain sensitivity through exposure to rural poverty and different socioeconomic realities, then return home committed to continuing Quran study and sharing its message.
