What Are We Protecting? The Crab and the Patterns We Protect

What are we protecting and what lies beneath that protection?  This episode begins with the sky of October 10, 2026: a New Moon in Libra, Venus retrograde in Scorpio, and a square between Venus and Mars that brings questions of value, desire, conflict, and protection into focus.  From there, we turn to Cancer mythology and the image of the Crab.  Why Cancer during a Libra lunation?  Because the Crab helps us explore what the relationships between Venus, Mercury, and Mars bring into focus: familiar patterns we return to, emotional memories held beneath the surface, and protective responses that keep regenerating until we meet them differently.  Connect with Veronica - Send her a message! A New Beginning Needs Ground | Virgo New Moon 2026

In this reflection, I explore the Virgo New Moon not as a blank slate, but as a conscious practice for examining the soil we are standing in. Entering this lunation in the aftermath of the Pisces lunar eclipse, we look at what an intention requires when it encounters lived reality... our bodies, our time, our relationships, our responsibilities, and our limits. If you're questioning your direction, reconsidering something you once felt certain about, or finding that an earlier intention no longer fits quite as you imagined, I hope this reflection offers you somewhere supportive to land. You Cannot Change and Keep Everything

We say we want change, but change requires something to end.  In this episode, I explore why knowing isn't always enough, what meaningful change asks us to surrender, and the responsibility that begins when a pattern becomes visible. This is for anyone confronting what change will actually cost or living in the difficult middle where the old can no longer continue, but what comes next has not yet taken shape. Why Letting Go Can Feel Like Dying

Why is it so difficult to let go of something when we already know it can no longer continue in the same way? In this reflection, I explore what I began to notice about identity, grief, and the transitions we move through across a lifetime, and why letting go might involve much more than simply deciding to release something. How Images Teach Us What to See

Transforming the Established Self What happens when the image stops simply representing reality and begins teaching us what reality is supposed to look like? In this reflection, Veronica brings the work of French philosopher and cultural theorist Jean Baudrillard's ideas of simulation, simulacra, and hyperreality into conversation with attention, perception, conditioning, identity, and conscious participation.  This reflection explores: how representations can participate in training perception, how standards teach attention where to look, and how repeated attention gives significance to particular features, beliefs, identities, and ways of seeing.Maybe the question isn't only... what am I seeing? Maybe it's... what taught me to see it this way? *** If you're a visual learner: the video includes several diagrams I created to help map some of the more conceptual parts of this conversation. The audio stands on its own, but you may find the visual version especially helpful. Play Video Here Connect with Veronica - Send her a message! Thought Isn't the Beginning

If thought isn't the beginning, changing the thought alone may not change the pattern. This episode, I explore how state changes the quality of thinking, why attention is often what we miss, and how conscious living prepares the field through which gathered attention and meditation become possible. Thought isn't the beginning... and it doesn't have to determine what comes next. Connect with Veronica - Send her a message! When Life Interrupts Who You Learned to Be

Sometimes life doesn't create the pattern. It interrupts it long enough for us to see what had already become familiar. In this reflection, I explore what happens when an experience changes the conditions through which we have learned to know ourselves, and identity not as something wrong that needs to be transcended, but as something continually taking form through memory, relationship, attention, value, responsibility, and repeated practice.  REFLECTION NOTES: https://veronicapenacho.com/involution-with-veronica/when-life-interrupts-who-you-learned-to-be  Connect with Veronica - Send her a message! We Are Always Practicing Something

We are always practicing something. Practice isn't only what we intentionally choose to do. Practice is what we repeatedly establish. So, the question isn't whether we have a practice, but what is our practice establishing? In this reflection, we explore what it means to consciously interrupt automatic movement, gather scattered attention, and return to a more conscious relationship with ourselves and our experience.  Connect with Veronica - Send her a message!
