    Insidious: Chapter 2 Is Somehow Still This Scary

    Insidious: Chapter 2 picks up right where the first movie left off, and Amy was apparently wrong to expect the sequel to give her a break. Sequels often soften the scares or repeat what worked the first time, but this one still hit hard enough that Amy needed a weighted blanket, shut the bedroom door, and then immediately became afraid the door was going to open by itself. William thinks she may have actually screamed more during Chapter 2 than she did during the original. We talk about why Patrick Wilson gets even more to do this time around, the creepy old houses and abandoned hospital that Amy wants absolutely nothing to do with, and why apparently any house that isn’t open concept is haunted. Then, after our ratings, we head into spoilers to dig into one of our favorite things about Insidious: Chapter 2: the way it reaches backward and changes how you see moments from the first film. We also get into the Black Veil, the Further, the red door, and where the franchise appears to be taking us next.     Insidious Might Be Scarier Than The Conjuring

    Amy thought years of watching horror would make Insidious easier this time. Instead, she walked away wondering if it might be even scarier than The Conjuring. We’re going Further into the Further as we revisit every Insidious movie before Insidious: Out of the Further. We start with James Wan’s original and discuss why its scares remain so unpredictable, how it makes ghosts appearing in broad daylight terrifying, and why Amy once refused to let William bring the movie into the house.     The Yeti Needed More Yeti

    The Yeti needed more Yeti. This old-school creature feature has a great late-1940s Alaskan look, strong performances, and a monster we genuinely wanted to see. The problem is that most of the kills happen off camera, the Yeti remains hidden behind fog and noise, and several character decisions left us wondering what anyone was thinking. Amy explains why the atmosphere never became creepy for her, while William considers whether the filmmakers successfully worked around a limited budget or simply left too much unseen. Neither of us hated The Yeti. Neither of us would rush to watch it, either. This review is spoiler-free.     Ice Cream Man (2026) Review — Too Gory to Be This Much Fun

    Eli Roth’s Ice Cream Man looks bright, colorful, and almost wholesome. Then the blood starts flowing and barely stops. Amy expected the movie to be far too graphic for her. She spent much of it covering her ears and squinting through the kills, but somehow, she still had fun. William expected an Eli Roth gorefest, but even he was surprised by how playful, energetic, and strangely lighthearted the movie feels. In our Ice Cream Man review, we discuss how the movie balances extreme violence with its sunny small-town atmosphere, why its family feels believable amid all the insanity, whether this is what Weapons should have been, and how Eli Roth gets away with putting children at the center of such a graphic horror movie. We also explain who will have a blast seeing this with a theater crowd and who should probably stay far away from the ice cream truck.     Spider Man is back, and this might be Tom Holland's best outing yet. After everything Peter Parker lost in No Way Home, Brand New Day takes the character in a fresh direction while delivering bigger action, more emotion, and some of the most brutal Spider Man moments we've seen on screen. We also talk about why this version of Peter feels more grown up, the chemistry between Spider Man and another fan-favorite character, and the few moments where we thought the pacing slowed down.     Nightborn Review | Neither of Us Wants to Watch It Again

    Neither of us ever wants to watch Nightborn again. Somehow, that still was not enough to make us agree on whether horror fans should see it. Nightborn follows a couple who move into an isolated house in the Finnish forest to start a family. After their son is born, Saga becomes convinced there is something terribly wrong with him, even as everyone around her insists he is fine. Amy put William back in the doghouse almost immediately. We get into the movie’s brutal childbirth imagery, the subtitle problem that kept Amy from looking away, its use of Nordic troll folklore, and why William could respect how well it was made while still never wanting to experience it again.
