Are you throwing stones??!! Communication is one of those things we are often very good at criticizing in other people, but how often do we stop and look at the way we communicate? In this episode, I’m catching you up on where I’ve been, what I’ve been working on, and some very exciting news about my upcoming book, Worthy of Love: A Journey to Self-Worth and a Thriving Marriage. I’m also moving into the second foundation of the Intuitive Marriage Method: communication. Communication is about so much more than the words we say to our spouse. It shows up in how we express our needs, communicate our expectations, respond when we are hurt, handle conflict, and interact with our children, family, friends, coworkers, and even strangers. It is easy to focus on how someone else speaks to us, what they are doing wrong, or why they should know what we need. It is much harder to pause and ask ourselves: Was I clear about what I needed? Was I truly listening? What did my tone and body language communicate? Was I trying to resolve the situation, or was I trying to prove that I was right? Am I holding someone else accountable for something I may also be doing? Sometimes better communication begins with looking at our own side of the street. In this episode, we talk about communication, expectations, defensiveness, passive aggressive behaviour, accountability, and why throwing stones becomes dangerous when we are all living in glass houses. I also share more about the Marriage Wheel research I’m gathering for Worthy of Love and the incredible insights women are already discovering about themselves and their relationships. If you are married, common law, in a long term committed relationship, or reflecting on a past relationship, I would love for you to participate. Complete the Marriage Wheel Assessment, share what came up for you, and help me reach my goal of hearing from 100 women. Because when we become more aware of how we communicate, we create space for more honesty, understanding, connection, and growth. In this episode: • Why communication is about more than simply talking • How unspoken expectations affect our relationships • The difference between listening and waiting for our turn to respond • How tone, body language, assumptions, and defensiveness shape a conversation • Why passive aggressive communication rarely gives us what we need • The importance of taking accountability for our own communication patterns • How the Marriage Wheel can offer a new perspective on yourself and your relationship • An update on my upcoming book, Worthy of Love A question to reflect on: Before pointing out how someone else communicates, are you willing to take an honest look at your own words, reactions, expectations, and behaviour? Sometimes the most powerful change in a relationship begins with us.
