S03E20 - Stop Measuring Favor By Circumstances

Stop Measuring Favor by Circumstances What if we have been measuring God’s favor by the wrong standard? In this episode of Perspective Shift: Unveiling Paradigms in Perceptions, we explore why favorable circumstances are not necessarily proof of God’s favor—and why difficult circumstances are not proof that His favor has disappeared. Joseph’s life gives us a powerful example. He experienced God’s favor in Potiphar’s house, yet that favor did not prevent him from being falsely accused or imprisoned. His circumstances changed, but God’s presence and favor remained. This challenges us to look beyond what is happening around us and examine who we are in Christ and how we walk with God. Proverbs 3:3–4 connects mercy, truth, and finding favor with God and man. The issue is not merely what we receive from God, but what is being formed within us. As mercy and truth become written on the tablet of our hearts, they begin to shape the way we live, make decisions, and relate to others. We also examine the two sons in Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son. One left his father’s house and eventually came to himself, while the other remained in the house but failed to recognize what he already possessed. Both had an identity problem. The father had to remind both sons of who they were. This raises an important question: Do we truly understand our identity in Christ? Jesus never modeled a life of continually asking for favor. Instead, Scripture tells us that He “increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men” (Luke 2:52, NKJV). What if our focus should be less on asking God to give us something He has already provided and more on growing in our understanding of who we are in Him? We explore how righteousness, faith, identity, and the way we live are connected—and why trials should not become the measure of whether God is with us. Favor is not measured by the absence of trouble. Sometimes the greatest evidence of what God has placed within us is how we walk through the trouble. Join us as we shift our perspective from circumstances to identity, from what we see around us to what Scripture says about who we are in Christ.

S03E16 - A Picture Of Grace: The Lampstand And The Olive Trees

A Picture of Grace: The Lampstand and the Olive Trees Biblical interpretation is essential for clarity in your faith. Dare Akinsanya explains how to align your views with Scripture. Many Christians struggle with confusion because their personal paradigms are not grounded in the Word of God. This discussion examines how we can return to authentic, scriptural foundations to find true unity within our beliefs. By adjusting our spiritual focus, we can better understand the core message of the gospel and apply it to our daily lives. This video is designed for those seeking a deeper, more consistent walk with Christ. We explore how a proper biblical interpretation helps resolve conflicting ideas and fosters a more mature understanding of doctrine. When we prioritize the Bible over our own perceptions, we gain the clarity needed to navigate modern challenges. Subscribe for weekly Christian doctrine breakdowns, and comment below on which theological topic you would like us to discuss next. In our previous episode, we explored Zechariah 4:6–7 and the powerful declaration: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.” This time, we go back to the beginning of Zechariah’s vision to uncover the picture behind those words. Zechariah sees a golden lampstand, seven lamps, a bowl of oil, and two olive trees. The lampstand could not produce light on its own—it needed oil. The continuous supply of oil points us to the work and power of the Holy Spirit. The vision then reveals a powerful connection between the Spirit, grace, and God's ability to overcome what appears impossible. The mountain before Zerubbabel would become a plain, and the capstone would be brought forth with the cry: “Grace, grace to it!” — Zechariah 4:7 We also explore Rehoboth, where Isaac declared, “The LORD has made room for us” (Genesis 26:22), and consider how this illustrates what grace does—creating room for God's purpose and fruitfulness. But grace is not the end of the journey. Grace makes provision; faith responds. God can supply the oil and level the mountain, but we must still take the step of faith. Join us as we uncover a deeper picture of grace through the lampstand, the olive trees, the Spirit, and the mountain—and discover why grace is a means to an end, not the end itself.

S03E15 - Do You Know What You Carry?

In this episode, we take a closer look at Paul’s closing prayer in 2 Corinthians 13:14: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.” What if Paul was not simply praying for grace, love, and the Holy Spirit to be given to the believers, but that their eyes would be opened to what was already available to them? Scripture speaks of the “manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10), and Paul reminds us that we have gifts “according to the grace that is given to us” (Romans 12:6). This points to the many ways grace can be experienced and expressed in our lives. We can grow in grace (2 Peter 3:18), and our awareness, cooperation, and expression of what God has made available to us can deepen. At the center of this discussion is the communion of the Holy Spirit. Knowing about the Holy Spirit is not the same as communing with Him. We can have access to someone without cultivating a relationship with them. In the same way, believers can carry the presence of the Holy Spirit and yet live without fully recognizing or engaging what they carry. Jesus said of the Holy Spirit, “He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you” (John 14:17), while Paul says that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17). This episode explores what it means to walk in that awareness—to recognize the treasure we carry, cultivate communion with the Holy Spirit, and understand how humility positions us to experience more of God’s grace. We also examine the distinction between the breath of God, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit coming upon a person for divine empowerment, with biblical examples from Samson, Saul, David, and Gideon. Ultimately, the message is simple: we carry a treasure in earthen vessels (2 Corinthians 4:7), but carrying it and recognizing its value are not the same thing. As we grow in our understanding of grace and deepen our communion with the Holy Spirit, may we become increasingly conscious of the God who is with us, in us, and working through us. And if you have never received Christ, this episode also points to the first step: opening your heart to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

S03E14 - There is nothing like Unmerited Favor

There Is Nothing Like Unmerited Favor What if being overlooked by people is actually part of being positioned by God? In this episode, we continue our exploration of God’s grace and favor through the remarkable story of Obed-Edom. When David became afraid of the Ark of the Covenant after Uzzah was struck down, the Ark was placed in Obed-Edom’s house. What looked like a dangerous burden became the very thing that brought extraordinary blessing to his household. Obed-Edom didn’t ask for the Ark. He wasn’t the king. He didn’t organize the procession. Yet God used an unexpected situation to position him for something he could never have achieved through his own efforts. This episode explores the difference between grace and favor, why human rejection does not determine your value before God, and how God has a history of choosing people who don't look selectable. We’ll also examine a powerful question: Do you want God, or do you want what God can give you? His presence, or His presents? The Giver, or the gift? If you've ever felt overlooked, rejected, underestimated, or passed over for an opportunity, Obed-Edom’s story is a reminder that God does not need human approval to fulfill His purpose for your life. Sometimes the people who overlook you may unknowingly be helping position you for what God has prepared for you. “For promotion and power come neither from the east nor from the west… but God is the Judge; He puts down one and exalts another.” — Psalm 75:6–7 Listen, reflect, and discover why there is nothing like unmerited favor.

    S03E13 - When Your Good Idea Isn't God's Assignment

What if God’s grace is far greater than anything you could ever ask for—but the greatest expression of that grace is not getting what you want? In this episode, we explore the story of David, a man Scripture calls “a man after God’s own heart.” David desired to build a house for God and even received encouragement to pursue the idea. Yet God had a different plan: David would prepare the way, but his son Solomon would build the temple. David wasn’t rejected. He wasn’t abandoned. He wasn’t outside God’s favor. It simply wasn’t his assignment. And that distinction reveals something powerful about grace: grace works in alignment with God’s will. Sometimes God’s grace is not seen in giving us what we planned for ourselves, but in giving us the strength, wisdom, and faith to fulfill what He planned for us—even when His plan looks completely different from ours. Through David’s story, Jesus’ prayer in Gethsemane, and the warning in James 4, we examine a difficult but transformative question: Are we praying for God to bless our agenda, or are we asking Him to reveal His? Maybe you’re disappointed because God didn’t answer your prayer the way you expected. Maybe you’re watching someone else complete something you thought would be yours. Or maybe you’re standing in the middle of an unfinished chapter, wondering whether God is still working. Don’t mistake an unfinished chapter for a finished story. Grace is not committed to our preferred methods. Grace is committed to God’s perfect will. Today, don’t just ask God to bless your plans. Ask Him to reveal His.
