    008 Dan & Dave's Lisztomania - The Interloper

Travel Summary Dave was sent packing for this excursion, so the Ministry for Unnecessary Musical Excursions assigned me a temporary tour guide. Meet Dubs. This one's a big one. Just shy of three hours, and for that I make absolutely no apologies. While the episode starts with two recommended albums, it quickly becomes something a little different. It's less an in-depth review of the music and more a personal journey through the stories, memories and conversations that those albums sparked along the way. Featured Destinations This episode's journey revolves around two albums that were recommended to us by other people. 📍 Electric Six – Fire 📍 Spiritbox – Eternal Blue The theme for this trip was simple: "An album that someone else recommended to you... and now you're recommending to us." Further Listening As always, we've put together another playlist featuring the songs, artists and occasional musical rabbit holes that came up throughout the conversation. Some are directly related to the albums. Most absolutely aren't. In fact I don’t think any of them are related to the albums at all. Either way, it's a pretty fun playlist in its own right. Here it is Next Departure The Ministry has already begun planning the next excursion. The paperwork suggests there'll be a couple of guest travellers joining us... assuming I actually get off my arse and organise it. Dave will also be returning from whatever approved leave he claims to have been on. Our next destinations are currently scheduled to be: 📍 Nine Inch Nails – The Fragile 📍 Bad Omens – The Death of Peace of Mind No promises. The Ministry has been known to lose paperwork.

Episode 007B Dan and Dave's Lisztomania - Radiohead

Dan and Dave's Lisztomania Episode 7 | Mike Patton & Radiohead Welcome back to another episode of Dan and Dave's Lisztomania, where we explore the albums, artists and songs that have shaped our world, one playlist or album at a time. Episode 7 is split into two parts, taking us on two very different musical journeys that somehow complement each other perfectly, in my humble opinion that is. Part A | Mike Patton In Part A we dive into the wonderfully unpredictable career of Mike Patton, following his musical adventures through projects including Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, Tomahawk, Lovage, Peeping Tom and Mondo Cane. We talk about why Patton remains one of the most adventurous vocalists in modern music, how he constantly reinvents himself, and why trying to put his work into a single genre is probably a waste of everyone's time. Whether you're already a long-time fan or hearing some of these projects for the first time, there's no shortage of rabbit holes to disappear down. Part B | Radiohead For Part B we shift gears and explore the music of Radiohead. From the raw energy of their early work through to the layered, atmospheric songwriting that has defined much of their career. We unpack the stories, themes and our own interpretations behind a selection of songs that continue to reward repeated listening. Featured Theme Music From Episode 7 onwards, Dan and Dave's Lisztomania proudly features "Coma VII" by Lost in Threes as the podcast's official theme. A massive thank you to the band for generously allowing us to use their music. We also let the full track play at the end of both parts, so if you enjoyed what you heard, we'd highly recommend checking out more of their music. Albums & Artists Mentioned If you'd like to follow along, or revisit the music after the episode, you'll find both playlists below. Mike Patton Playlist Radiohead Playlist The other songs that were talked about (If I missed something - let me know and I'll add it) Moooooood playlist   We'd Love to Hear From You Did we introduce you to a new artist? Do you hear something completely different in one of Radiohead's lyrics? Is there a Mike Patton project you think deserves more attention? Or is there an album or playlist you'd love us to cover in a future episode? Leave us a comment, send us a message, or get in touch. We'd love to hear your thoughts. Until next time... Keep exploring. Keep listening. And never trust a playlist that claims to fit neatly into one genre. Email here: dananddaves@proton.me Instagram: @dananddaves_lisztomaniacs
