    I Posted 3 Pins a Day. Nobody Clicked My Link. - #135

I've been posting three pins a day on a new Pinterest account since September 19. Each one links to a free calculator I built to show what a car costs beyond the monthly payment—the part I overlooked while spending close to $69,000 on cars I no longer own. Pinterest says I'm up to about 1,300 monthly views, which honestly surprised me. But so far, nobody has clicked through to use the calculator. I'm still running the 30-day experiment, so I don't know whether the pins need work or whether this just needs more time. Either way, views alone aren't what I was trying to get. Try the calculator for free, you won't regret it: https://whop.com/make-cheaper-mistakes-than-i-did/real-car-cost-calculator/ I use Wispr Flow to dictate notes and messages instead of typing. If you want to try it, my referral link may give eligible new users a Pro trial (I’m not getting paid by sharing it, it’s just a cool tool I use that might help somebody out there. I’m on a student plan btw.) https://wisprflow.ai/r?BRUNO3088 I used Riverside to record for almost two years. I liked it, but I canceled a few months ago because the subscription wasn’t in my budget anymore. Where Do We Draw the Lines? — #134

Where does Europe end and Asia begin? I thought that would be an easy question until I started looking at why people count five, six, or seven continents. The land doesn’t change when the count does—we change the way we group it. Research I used: https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/Continent/ https://www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/modern-humans-homo-sapiens-when-where-how-did-we-evolve.html https://humanorigins.si.edu/evidence/genetics/human-skin-color-variation I use Wispr Flow to dictate notes and messages instead of typing. Why Do We Watch Other People Play Sports? - #133

Why do we spend hours watching other people play a game? I love soccer, but I’m injured right now, so watching is about as close as I can get to playing. My dad sees it differently: he’d rather get out there than sit through a match. Honestly, I get his point. I started thinking about why we play, why we watch, and how long people have been inventing games. That sent me from modern football to ancient ball games in China and Mesoamerica. I don’t have a grand answer. I’m just fascinated that playing seems to follow us wherever humans go—and that watching someone become unbelievably good at a game can be its own experience. I use Wispr Flow to dictate notes and messages instead of typing. What If Death Is Like Before You Were Born? - #132

Before I was born, I wasn’t waiting around for my turn—or at least I don’t remember anything. I keep wondering whether death could be like that. I hit record without an outline and ended up talking about not existing, losing people I love, and this weird idea that the more you suffer after someone dies, the more you must have loved them. I don’t think grief works like a scoreboard. But I haven’t lost my parents or my brother, so I’m not going to pretend I know how I’ll react when that happens.

Does Having Kids Give Your Life Purpose? - #131

I’m thinking about getting a vasectomy. A line from Socrates about examining your life got me asking what makes mine worth living. I don’t think having a child would hand me an answer. Life can be f*****g great, and it can also be hard as hell. Making the choice to bring someone else into it is something I can’t stop questioning. When Did Humans Learn to Speak? - #130

I started learning Greek because I was fascinated by Greek philosophers. Three years later, I’m still nowhere near fluent, but it sent me down a rabbit hole: where did language even come from? I found an MIT article about a paper suggesting humans had the capacity for language at least 135,000 years ago. That doesn’t tell us when somebody said the first word, which honestly makes the question even more interesting to me. I talk through a few ideas about how language might have developed, what learning Greek made me notice, and how we ended up with thousands of languages while sharing this incredible ability to use one at all. I’m definitely not a linguist. I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. Sources I mention: MIT News: https://news.mit.edu/2025/when-did-human-language-emerge-0314 Original paper: https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2025.1503900 I use Wispr Flow to dictate notes and messages instead of typing. Do You Want Kids or Do You Just Feel Like You’re Supposed To? - #129

I love being around my little cousin. We became close when I lived with him in LA, and I miss him now that I’m back in Guatemala. That experience didn’t make me want children of my own. I’ve changed my mind about parenthood more than once, but for the past few years my answer has been no. In this episode, I talk about the responsibility and uncertainty that shape my decision—and the pressure to have kids simply because it’s what people expect. I’m not arguing that nobody should become a parent. I think it’s a choice worth making honestly, for yourself.

I Studied Engineering. I Never Looked at Screws This Way. - #128

I studied mechanical engineering, but I’d never stopped to think about some everyday objects as machines. Today I came across the six classical simple machines—the lever, wheel and axle, pulley, inclined plane, wedge, and screw—and the screw caught my attention. An inclined plane wrapped around a shaft is such a simple idea, yet it changed how I looked at the objects around me. Have you ever had a basic idea suddenly click after years of being around it? - I use Wispr Flow to dictate notes and messages instead of typing.
