Speaking to Radio Tarana host Sanjesh Narain, Menéndez March criticised the National Party’s social media campaign, saying its Instagram and Facebook pages focused more on attacking other political parties than promoting policy proposals. “If you look at the National Party’s Instagram and Facebook pages, you will find that they are not campaigning on proposals. Arena Williams

Labour’s Arena Williams Says Practical Policies Can Ease Cost-of-Living Pressures Labour’s Manurewa electorate candidate, Arena Williams, says the party has practical policies aimed at easing the cost of living, but voters need to understand how those measures will affect their everyday lives. Speaking to Radio Tarana host Sanjesh Narain, Williams said people in her electorate were calling for change, although some remained undecided about which direction to take. She said Labour needed to clearly explain how its proposed cost-of-living measures would make a tangible difference to households. “It’s about telling people how it’s going to affect everyday lives,” Williams said. Williams also defended Labour’s banking policy, arguing that financial technology companies should be able to access real-time payments safely, allowing customers to benefit from faster and more efficient transactions. On law and order, she said Labour was focused on preventing crime before it happens, highlighting the importance of addressing problems before they lead to offending. Williams said the party’s approach was centred on practical solutions to the issues affecting people and families in their daily lives.

Lalit Arya

National Party Ōtāhuhu candidate Lalit Arya says cost of living and law and order are among the key concerns he is hearing from voters in the electorate. Arya says he is telling voters that the National-led Government is working to bring down the cost of living, while law and order remains a priority for the party. He says National’s policies are already producing positive results. As an Indian candidate, Arya says he initially wondered what kind of reception he would receive from voters in the electorate. However, he says he has been pleased with the response so far. While some voters have raised concerns about job losses in the public sector under the National-led Government, Arya says he is telling them that the situation is improving and that the Government’s policies are beginning to deliver results.
