Introductions by Peter Tiefenbach: Louis Quilico was one of the leading operatic baritones of the 20th century. His passing on July 15th, 2000, was a great loss to the musical world. Quilico performed at many of the world's great opera houses, with many of the world's greatest conductors, tenors (Pavorotti, Domingo, Vickers, Carreras), and sopranos (Sutherland, Tebaldi, Scotto , Sills). Quilico was most renowned for his defining portrayal of Verdi's Rigoletto. In these recordings, we hear him in his own words and voice, unfiltered and unedited.
