  1. Milad Faqiri on AI Music, Touring with Mozhdah Jamalzadah, Ahmad Zahir's Sampling and Indians in Vancouver

    Jun 23

Milad Faqiri on AI Music, Touring with Mozhdah Jamalzadah, Ahmad Zahir's Sampling and Indians in Vancouver

Milad Faqiri is an Afghan-Canadian musician, keyboard player, producer, and car salesman in the Lower Mainland known online as Buy From Milad and Bad Milad, two versions of the same guy who somehow both go viral. This episode goes deep on Afghan music and the state of the scene. We get into how Milad learned to play by ear, the reality of producing for major Afghan artists with no royalties to show for it, why Afghan weddings are basically the only venue where people experience live Afghan music, and why the scene keeps recycling the same covers instead of building something original. Then AI comes up and things get interesting. Milad's parents are already obsessed with AI-generated Afghan music on YouTube and have no idea. We also get into why live performance is about to matter more, why AI still can't do comedy, and why comedy might be the real Turing test. Plus: the chaos of Afghan boat parties, the parking lot drunk guys at every wedding, assimilation and diaspora dynamics, doing business with Afghans, and what Milad actually thinks of the Vancouver Afghan community. Milad is one of those rare people who is exactly the same in person as he is online. That's either a compliment or a warning, depending on which Milad shows up. ⚠️ Viewer discretion: this episode includes adult humor, discussion of the Afghan music industry, AI and music, Taliban restrictions on music, royalty disputes, and some very honest takes on the Afghan diaspora community. Tamanna Roashan (@DressYourFace) on Her 3M Followers, the Afghan Wedding Scam, and Almost Working at NASA | AwJiz Boys

Tamanna Roashan, known online as @DressYourFace to her 3M Instagram followers, joins Kane and Dauood for almost two hours of unfiltered conversation. Tamanna is the founder of DYF Beauty, creator of the bestselling Tamanna Palette with Anastasia Beverly Hills, and the first independent educator to build a 10 year global beauty masterclass tour. This is the longest, most personal interview she's done with an Afghan platform. We cover her DYF Beauty brand build (Italian color cosmetics lab), the truth about "Made in Italy" labels on luxury products, and the moment her Indian mom and Afghan dad pulled her out of an astronomy degree (she wanted to work for NASA) and pushed her into cosmetology school instead. Then the stories get real. The Abu Dhabi week long wedding she did for Roshni Roshan with 10 themed looks across 10 events. Working with Christina Milian. Why she retired from touring after a decade. And THE story: the Afghan bride who scammed her on her wedding day, took the trial, took the lashes, and had her fiance pick up the phone the morning of the wedding to say she was never booked. She also opens up about growing up half Hindu, half Muslim in a mixed faith household where the foyer had idols and the living room had Qurans, the Afghan cousins who moved in and changed her entire identity, marrying into an Afghan family, and her 5 year old son becoming the most religious person in the house. And her closing message to the next generation of Afghan women is the kind of thing you save and send to a friend: stop fighting for the one piece of pie at the table. Make more pies. Female Co-Founder is Disrupting the $50 Billion Global Aid Industry | Laymah Murtaza

Laymah Murtaza is the Chief Partnerships Officer and co-founder at Aseel, a hybrid tech platform that started as the "Etsy of Afghanistan" and evolved into something much bigger. The platform runs on three layers: Buy Good, an e-commerce marketplace connecting 3,000+ artisans to global customers. Do Good, a decentralized aid delivery system where donors select specific packages, fund them, and receive photo confirmed proof of delivery to verified recipients. And AidOS, a full aid operating system that nonprofits and NGOs can plug into for fundraising, beneficiary tracking via digital OMID IDs, vendor management, and real time distribution monitoring. The tech is real. Aseel digitized the entire humanitarian supply chain. Every transaction is tracked, every delivery is photographed, and every recipient is verified. They've delivered over $5M in direct aid to 600,000+ people across 24 of Afghanistan's 34 provinces. Featured in TIME, NPR, Al Jazeera, BBC, and TechCrunch. Recognized by MIT Solve. Headlined AidEx 2025 in Geneva. Trusted by USAID, Save the Children, and the Vitol Foundation. Laymah breaks down the business model, what VCs actually ask during seed rounds, how their dev team operates remotely inside Afghanistan, and why most humanitarian tech is a decade behind. Bay Area Gen Z Afghan Twitch Streamer doesn't support Andrew Tate

The AwJiz Boys sit down with Bay Area Gen Z content creator and Twitch streamer Kais aka First Class Kais and things get real fast. Kais is 21, sober, celibate, and streaming every night at 8PM. We get into growing up Afghan in Fremont, cutting out the clubs and the noise before most people his age even start, and why self-reflection is his fastest growth tool. He breaks down what it actually takes to stay consistent as a small streamer in a world full of burnout and competition, why he chose celibacy over clout chasing, and how removing all the distractions changed his content overnight. Plus: two 35-year-olds learning what "mogging" and "jester maxing" means in real time, the red pill to real talk pipeline, why sports betting is ruining the NBA, smoking weed at 14 and what it cost him, and why streaming in Afghanistan would probably land him in jail. The AwJiz Boys are back on the road in Vancouver! We sit down with Ali Bomaye Wasuk, an Afghan MMA fighter on a mission, and things get real fast. Ali came on the show ahead of his BFL Bantamweight Championship rematch against Christian Strong at BFL 86, TONIGHT February 19, 2026 at the Harbour Convention Centre in Vancouver, live on UFC Fight Pass. He lost the first fight. Now he wants the belt. We get into the full journey, from getting jumped outside school as a new kid in Vancouver, to competing at the highest regional level with his eyes locked on the UFC. He breaks down what it actually takes to stay disciplined when your whole family thinks fighting is haram, why knowing you can hurt someone takes the anger out of you, and how he never stops training whether a fight is booked or not. Ali also opens up about being a CEO at West Cana, a cannabis company with two Vancouver locations, how CBD became part of his recovery game, and why an Afghan fighter carrying the flag gets complicated when the newest version of it is white. Plus: growing up thinking you were Persian, the Taliban ban on striking sports, training with guys whose uncles work for the regime, why social media following might get you into the UFC faster than a good record, and what it was like to bomb on the same stage as Dave Chappelle. 🥊 Watch Ali fight TONIGHT: BFL 86 — UFC Fight Pass | Harbour Convention Centre, Vancouver Follow Our Guest: ▶ X: https://x.com/alibomayewasuk ▶ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ali.bomaye786/ ▶ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@aliwasuk Kane LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kanedabir/ AwJiz Boys LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/awjizboys If you rock with the AwJiz Boys, this is how you support and get more. The AwJiz Boys are on the road in Vancouver! We link up with Dawoud, the man behind Afghan Sound, who's been putting on Afghan concerts and events across Canada for over 15 years. We get into what it actually takes to throw events for our community (spoiler: it's a labor of love, not a money play), why working with Afghans is a whole different business game, and the challenge of getting our people to support each other instead of tearing each other down. Dawoud also shares memories from the OG Afghan basketball tournaments, the D-Sham Show days on Omni TV, and why he chose family life over the bachelor route. Plus: the charity guilt-trip at Afghan events debate, what your name says about you (Dave vs. David vs. Dawoud), Kobe vs. LeBron loyalty, and the eternal question...
