    Dispatch from Wabasha, MN

Join me on a low-key bar hop through sleepy Wabasha, where I hobble along the Mississippi River after leaving Slippery's, attempting to suppress acid reflux like a real Grumpy Old Man. Hear my gassy thoughts on the 1993 comedy that dethroned Native American history and bald eagles as Wabasha's chief claim to fame, investigate an old building that was once home to an odd society, and crawl otherwise aimless through the empty streets of a town that one local told me was "one big rest home." But, wait! There's more! Join me in Minneapolis the next night, where I start out in the parking lot of an old apartment building where Mary and Rhoda could've lived 50 years ago, then make my way back to the hotel courtyard, meditating on everything from mall cops to reality TV, and that weird thing that happened to me this week when I got a call from the police, notifying me that they'd recovered my stolen motorcycle from nearly three years ago. ...And that's all for this one, but don't worry, Mike will return soon in... Dispatch from Fargo, ND

Join me on my last night in Fargo, ND, where I walk around a thriving downtown area as it preps for the big AI festival. After my request for a photo op in front of the Marge Gunderson woodchip statue gets turned down by Fargo theater staff, I go for a drink and talk about the classic film on the rooftop bar of the historic Hotel Donaldson. Later, I take it back to the Home 2 Suites for a nightcap and some final thoughts on the town and its people. Another Dispatch from the Midwest

Join me on another trip to Quincy, IL, where I walk along the waterfront of the Mississippi River and loiter in the parking lot of the posh local boating club. Later, I sit on the back porch of a shuttered bar close to my hotel and reflect on anything and whatever. Join Mike on the hot southern porch for a chat about the '96 classic...and some other new business...

    Talking "EYES WIDE SHUT"

On a humid Christmas night in Birmingham, AL, join me for a drink as I mull over Kubrick's last movie "Eyes Wide Shut" -- the weirdo plot, theories old and new, and why nobody liked it when it came out...even though I processed countless late fees for the VHS when I worked at Blockbuster back in the day.
