    Investigating Gravelbourg EP01: Introducing Gravelbourg

Season 3 or ParaGhoul Paranormal begins with a new format. Welcome to What Haunts Saskatchewan? Investigating Gravelbourg, a season-long paranormal investigation that follows the stories, history, and unexplained experiences connected to one of Saskatchewan's most fascinating communities. Most people know Gravelbourg for the ghost stories surrounding the Convent of Jesus and Mary. But after a personal experience in another historic building during a family visit, I started wondering whether the convent is only part of the story. In this first episode, we'll explore the history of Gravelbourg, how the town was founded, and the experience that inspired me to return and investigate further. Along the way, I'll share why this season is different from previous seasons of ParaGhoul Paranormal and the questions I'm hoping to answer as the investigation unfolds.  Is the convent really the only haunted place in town? Or is there something more going on in this little piece of Europe on the prairies?  🗺️ Explore the interactive map: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1gmptbIgGFlisDZCHYic6BtB25koYJn0&usp=sharing 📧 Join the investigation for episode updates, exclusive photos, map additions, and early access to the Gravelbourg Paranormal Field Guide: https://kdkulpa.com/paraghoul-paranormal/investigating-gravelbourg/ 👻 Have a paranormal or unexplained experience connected to Gravelbourg? Canadian Legends + Monsters: The Kingston Park Built on 10,000 Graves

In this episode of ParaGhoul Paranormal: Discoveries from the Dark, I explore the unsettling history of Skeleton Park in Kingston, Ontario. Today it looks like a peaceful green space, but beneath the grass lies the former Upper Burial Ground, a cemetery where as many as 10,000 people may still be buried. First established in the early 1800s as the Garrison Burying Ground, the cemetery expanded as Kingston grew, eventually holding soldiers, local residents, and immigrants who died during devastating outbreaks of cholera, typhus, and malaria. By the 1850s the burial ground had reached capacity, and by the 1890s the neglected cemetery was converted into a city park. While some remains were relocated, thousands were left behind, with headstones flattened and soil placed over the graves. Over the years, frost heaving and construction work have occasionally uncovered bones, helping the park earn its lasting nickname: Skeleton Park. With so many graves beneath the surface, it is perhaps no surprise that the area is also said to be haunted. Visitors have reported ghostly women wandering the park, children appearing and disappearing, strange mists, whispers, and the feeling of being watched. Canadian Legends & Monsters: What Lives in Crescent Lake, Newfoundland?

In this episode, I’m talking about Cressie, a lake monster that people say lives in Crescent Lake near Robert’s Arm in Newfoundland. From what I could find, the stories go back at least to early newspaper reports, loggers on the water, and even much older Indigenous stories about water spirits in the area. I walk through some of the reported sightings from the 1930s, 1960s, early 1990s, and 2000s, along with a few theories about what people might actually be seeing. Giant eel, drifting logs, misidentified animals, or maybe something we just don’t fully understand yet. We also talk a bit about why lake monsters show up so often in Canadian lore, and how tricky it really is to prove or disprove anything in a deep, murky lake. If creatures and quieter horror are your thing, you might like my novel Coma, which you can find at kdkulpa.com/writing. Guest Appearance: Inside Haunted Canada with Joel A. Sutherland

Ever wonder who writes the Haunted Canada books that share true ghost stories from across the country? In this episode, I’m joined by Canadian horror author and librarian Joel A. Sutherland, whose work has introduced generations of readers to haunted places, forgotten history, and real paranormal encounters. We talk about why horror works so well for young readers, how Haunted Canada became one of Canada’s most well-known paranormal series, and the research process behind collecting real ghost stories. Joel also shares one of the most disturbing haunted house cases he has ever encountered, a story that continues to influence his fiction years later. If you enjoy ghost stories grounded in real places, Canadian history, and thoughtful research, this episode is for you. Local Saskatchewan Haunts: Ghostly Whispers from the Weyburn Mental Hospital

The Weyburn Mental Hospital was once the largest building in the British Commonwealth… and one of the most unsettling. Overcrowding, experimental treatments, underground tunnels, and a fourth‑floor woman who walked the halls long after they were sealed shut ... this place has no shortage of shadows. In this episode, I’m taking you back to the now‑demolished Souris Valley Mental Hospital to uncover its tangled history, chilling ghost stories, and the newspaper clippings that reveal what life (and death) inside the institution was really like. From eerie high‑heel footsteps to dark figures in abandoned corridors, Weyburn’s most haunted site holds secrets that refuse to fade. Guest Appearance: Inside Alberta’s Most Haunted Places with Ghost Hunt Alberta

In this episode, I’m joined by Bonnie Milner, founder of Ghost Hunt Alberta, to talk about what more than 30 years in the paranormal has taught her. Bonnie has investigated haunted locations across Alberta, BC, and parts of the United States, and she brings a grounded, scientific approach to every case she works. We dig into how her grandmother’s spirit sightings pulled her into the paranormal, why she relies so heavily on the scientific method, and how returning to the same locations for years builds real relationships with the spirits who linger there. Bonnie also shares some of her most memorable investigations, the realities of running a paranormal tourism business, how COVID changed activity in certain buildings, and why small-town hauntings are often the most meaningful.
