500-Pound Swordfish Sets New Maine State Record | Northeast Offshore Fishing Report Sept. 2nd 2026

In this week’s offshore fishing report, Anthony DeiCicchi and Matt Haeffner break down some of the incredible catches happening across the Northeast. Highlights include a new Maine state-record swordfish weighing more than 500 pounds, as well as an impressive shore-caught cubera snapper from the surf off Nantucket. Capt. Deane Lambros of the Canyon Runner team also joins the report with an update on offshore fishing conditions from North Carolina to Maine. Recent fishing has produced mixed results, with an unproductive lunar cycle making tuna fishing more challenging while creating favorable conditions for marlin and other billfish. The latest offshore catches include blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, and bigeye tuna, with some of the better tuna action occurring around prominent offshore points and along the 20- to 30-fathom curve. The report also covers the latest sea surface temperature (SST) patterns, water movement, and offshore conditions throughout the Northeast. As warmer water edges continue pushing east, conditions in the Hudson Canyon area could improve, potentially setting the stage for better tuna and billfish fishing in the coming days.Watch this week’s Northeast offshore fishing report for the latest information on swordfish, tuna, marlin, billfish, and offshore fishing conditions from Cape Cod, Nantucket, the Hudson Canyon, and beyond.
