    Stop Worshiping Willpower

Tomorrow is always a day away and it’s also the place we hide our best intentions. We’ve all done it: we promise we’ll scroll less, drink less, eat better, train more, create more… then we leave temptation everywhere and act surprised when we make the easy choice. This conversation is a reset for anyone tired of turning self-improvement into a daily argument with their own brain. We dig into why willpower feels powerful but runs out fast, especially after a full day of decisions. The real lever is environment design: what’s visible, what’s convenient, and what silently “votes” for your default behavior. We walk through practical habit formation tactics like reducing decision fatigue, removing friction that blocks the habits you want, and adding friction that protects you from the habits you’re trying to outgrow. That includes your physical space and your digital space. Your phone is an environment engineered for attention, not focus, so we talk notifications, home screens, charging outside the bedroom, and how boredom can be the doorway to original thought. We also get specific about the kitchen and alcohol: what’s stocked, what’s prepared, and what’s within arm’s reach is often the real plan. Finally, we look at your calendar as an environment with no walls and build a “floor” a minimum standard that keeps your identity alive on hard days. Try the seven-day friction flip: remove three steps from one habit you want more of, add three steps to one habit you want less of, and track whether your setup made the decision easier. If it helps, subscribe, share this with a friend who’s stuck in self-blame, and leave a review so more people can find the show. Send us Fan Mail You've got questions? 'Casey on Tap' has the answers. Momentum is trying to find YOU!

Momentum isn’t the sparkly feeling you wake up with after a perfect night of sleep. We’re talking about the kind of momentum you can build when you still feel awkward, uncertain, and a little scared, but you act anyway. That shift changes everything, because action creates evidence, and evidence rewrites your self-image. When you keep your word to yourself, your identity starts to catch up, and the next hard step gets easier. We dig into why most of us stall out waiting for motivation, clarity, or “permission” to look foolish. We also get honest about the difference between rest and withdrawal, and why planning can feel like movement while your life stays the same. One of the biggest traps we name is fear of success: what if it works, what if you outgrow the old places, what if people expect more from you once you stop hiding behind potential? We go straight at the “middle lane” with alcohol and other numbing habits, including the idea that you don’t need a dramatic rock bottom to deserve a clear life. If you’ve been telling yourself you’re managing it, we challenge the possibility that it’s been managing you, quietly taking your energy, sleep, confidence, and honesty. To make this practical, we close with a simple seven-day experiment for behavior change: one area, one small daily action, seven days of follow-through, then a short review of what changed externally, internally, and in who you believe you can be. If this hits, subscribe, share it with someone who needs a push, and leave a quick review so more people can find the work. Send us Fan Mail You've got questions? 'Casey on Tap' has the answers. Stop Calling It Normal: The 7 Costs

If you’ve ever thought, “Nothing terrible has happened, so I guess my drinking is fine,” this conversation is for you. I’m Casey, and I’m going straight at the quiet lie our culture sells: that alcohol only matters when your life is on fire. The truth is tougher and more useful, because it gives you power sooner. Alcohol doesn’t have to destroy your life to be diminishing it, and the real damage often looks like a slow leak rather than a spectacular collapse.  I break down seven hidden costs that tend to get dismissed because each one seems small on its own. We talk about “borrowing from tomorrow” when a night of relief shows up as poor sleep, low energy, anxiety, and fog the next day. We look at how alcohol can shrink your emotional range by turning into an avoidance tool, and how that can feed the very anxiety you’re trying to escape. We also get honest about relationships: alcohol can turn the volume up while lowering accuracy, leading to misreads, repeated conflicts, and a version of you that’s physically present but not fully emotionally available.  From there, we dig into standards and self-trust, the way rules get rewritten, and how life quietly starts orbiting the drink. I draw a line between relief and joy, and I ask the biggest question of all: who would you become if you stopped needing chemical permission to be yourself? I end with 10 self-audit questions plus a seven-day cost audit challenge, and I share how my one-on-one coaching program, the Casey Code, helps “functioning” drinkers build a clear, practical path forward. If this hit home, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more people can choose clarity before a crisis. Send us Fan Mail You've got questions? 'Casey on Tap' has the answers.
