Donald McCorkindale (Church of Scotland) Parishes: Acharacle & Ardnamurchan (linked with Ardgour, Morvern, and Strontian) Overview - A new season begins as schools return; best wishes shared for young people starting school, college, university, apprenticeships, and new jobs. - September is a busy month across the peninsula with communion services, weddings, and the start of Harvest Thanksgiving services. - Harvest gifts across services will support the Lochaber Food Bank (monetary gifts especially encouraged; produce used for church decorations will be passed on). Key Dates & Services - Sun 6 Sept: Holy Communion at Ardnamurchan Church. - September: Three Saturday weddings across the peninsula (best wishes to the couples). - Sun 13 Sept: - Communion at Ardgour and Strontian - Worship at Kingairloch Church — 2:00pm (note time change from October) - Sun 20 Sept: Harvest Thanksgiving - Ardgour — 10:00am - Keel — 12:00 noon - Harvest gifts for Lochaber Food Bank - Sun 27 Sept: Harvest Thanksgiving at Strontian (harvest gifts for Lochaber Food Bank). Harvest Supper - Fri 2 Oct: Harvest Supper at Treslaig Hall — 6:00 for 6:30pm - Open to all; free gathering with hot meal (vegetarian option) - Optional dessert/pudding to share October Highlights - Sun 4 Oct: Harvest Thanksgiving at Acharacle and Ardnamurchan (gifts to Lochaber Food Bank). - Sun 11 Oct: Morning worship as usual (Ardgour, Strontian, Ardnamurchan) - Kingairloch worship moves to 3:00pm from October - Conversation and experimentation around worship styles and community engagement - Sun 18 Oct: Ardnamurchan service led by Free Church of Scotland (third Sunday pattern continues Oct–Mar). - Sat 31 Oct: National Day of Prayer for the Church of Scotland - Zoom gathering planned 10:00–11:00am (option to join in person at Ardgour Church). November Preview - Sun 1 Nov (All Saints Day): Kiel Kèilidh at Kiel Church (music/song/community gathering) — time/details to be confirmed. - Sun 8 Nov (Remembrance Sunday): Local services and wreath-laying; plus Outdoor Church event at 3:00pm at Kilmallie Retreat Centre. - Sun 15 Nov: Safeguarding Sunday (theme to be covered across 15th, 22nd, 29th in different locations). - Sun 29 Nov (Advent Sunday): Joint services at Ardgour and Ardnamurchan — both at 11:00am. Looking Ahead - Sun 20 Dec: Peninsula Carols — 7:00pm. Regular Gatherings - Wednesdays: Online prayers on YouTube — 10:00pm. - Tea & scones at Ardnamurchan Church (fortnightly Wednesdays) - Next: Wed 9 Sept, 2:00–4:00pm (summer schedule) - After clocks change: moves to 10:30am–12:30pm.
