    Enoch, Nephilim, Sirens, Spiritual Beings, & How They Changed Culture Worldwide w/ Paul Stobbs

    Paul Stobbs joins me as we enter the strange world of 1 Enoch 19, where the wives of the fallen angels are condemned to become sirens. These beings then appear throughout later folklore as seductive and deadly hybrids. In Homer’s Odyssey, the Sirens do not simply lure sailors with beauty. They tempt them with forbidden knowledge. We connect the Sirens with Athena, Lilith, Minerva, and the Harpies, the winged “snatchers” described by Hesiod. We also examine cultures that continue to recreate monstrous, chimera-like beings during festivals involving ancestral spirits, ritual masks, and supernatural veneration. We also explore the spiritual reality behind gorgons, sirens, harpies, goddesses, sun gods, wild men, and other creatures preserved in the traditions of nearly every ancient culture. From Athena’s mysterious Gorgon breastplate to Medusa looming from the ancient Temple of Artemis on Corfu, we go deep examining demons from the ancient world.
