    TeaFlix Interview with Michael Cavanaugh

Send us Fan Mail Join Dr. Angie McCartney (aka The World's Oldest Podcaster®) and daughter Ruth for #Teaflix Tuesday at 11:30am Pacific time on https://fb.com/drangiemccartney 4/28/26 as they are joined by old friend Tony® and Grammy® nominated musical maestro Michael Cavanaugh who is a charismatic performer and musician made famous for his piano and lead vocals in the Broadway musical Movin’ Out. Handpicked by Billy Joel, Cavanaugh evokes a style rivaling the Piano Man himself. His interpretation of modern pop and rock classics led Billboard to call him “The New Voice of the American Rock and Roll Songbook” and Reuters to recognize him as Entertainer of the Year for the private events market. Michael began playing at age seven when his parents bought their first piano. Encouraged by family and friends, he formed his first band at age 10 and began playing local functions, fine-tuning the craft that would become his chosen career. His first full-time gig as a musician was an extended engagement at the renowned dueling piano bar Blazing Pianos in Orlando, Florida. In January 1999, Michael received an offer that would unknowingly change his life, moving to Las Vegas to perform at the famed New York-New York Hotel and Casino. It was there that Billy Joel spotted Michael and joined him on stage during a career-defining performance in February 2001. That night marked the beginning of Michael’s ascent to Broadway. Michael closed up shop at New York-New York and moved to New York City to work alongside Billy Joel and Twyla Tharp to shape what became the hit musical Movin’ Out. He gave over 1,000 performances in the lead role and received both Grammy and Tony Award nominations. After Movin’ Out’s final performance and a run of more than three years, Michael Cavanaugh began touring the world in his own right. He soon became one of the most sought-after artists in the private events market and continues to perform worldwide. His tours include corporate and charity events, Performing Arts Centers, as well as major sporting events, including PGA Tour events, the Super Bowl, and the Indy 500. TeaFlix Interview with Jim Windolf (Author)

Send us Fan Mail Today's guest is Mr. Jim Windolf - an American journalist and author known for his work in magazines, and his writing about major cultural figures like The Beatles and Bob Dylan. He is currently a features editor at The New York Times. He has published articles, reviews, essays, and humor pieces in Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, New York magazine, Rolling Stone and other publications.  Additionally, his short fiction has appeared in Ontario Review, 3:AM Magazine, Puerto del Sol and other literary journals.  His writing is known for being insightful, well-researched, and accessible to general readers. He is not only known for this definitive book “Where The Music Had to Go” which is about these artists, but also for his contributions in magazine features and essays which have helped interpret their enduring influence. This dual biography dives into the surprisingly supportive, occasionally rivalrous, and always fertile relationship between Bob Dylan and the Beatles, uncovering how they inspired and transformed each other as songwriters, recording artists, and cultural icons. From Dylan’s initial dismissal of the Beatles as being for “teenyboppers” to his realization that they were “pointing the direction where music had to go”—and from the Beatles’ obsessive spinning of early Dylan records to their impromptu renditions of fifteen Dylan songs during the 1969 Get Back sessions—the book captures the moments that pushed Dylan to “go electric” and inspired the Beatles to deepen their lyrics. Highly entertaining and packed with backstage anecdotes, Where the Music Had to Go is a deep-focus portrait of a heretofore unexamined relationship, one full of camaraderie, competition, and mutual evolution. More than a music biography, this is a front-row seat to the forces that shaped an era - an unmissable experience for music lovers, pop-culture buffs, and anyone curious about the magic that happens when legends collide. https://www.nytimes.com/by/jim-windolf Teaflix is sponsored by MrsMcCartneysTeas.com Special thanks to Buzz Bezzini's Beatles Blog TheBeatlesBookstore.com for the introduction! TeaFlix Interview with Bill Lynch

Send us Fan Mail Born in Lawton, Oklahoma into a military family, Bill Lynch grew up everywhere from Tokyo to London and across the continental United States. While living in England, at a time when the Beatles were still playing Hamburg and Liverpool, Bill picked up the guitar at age 11 and never put it down. He played in bands throughout high school and college before leaving the Department of Visual Art at the University of Kansas to pursue music full time. His first serious band, Together, opened for Vanilla Fudge and Johnny Winter, and played the 1969 Kansas City Fun Fair alongside Iron Butterfly, The Steve Miller Band, Wilson Pickett, Strawberry Alarm Clock, and The Cowsills. The band even performed on second base at Kansas City’s Municipal Stadium before a Yankees–Royals game. After Together came Tide and other projects including The Bill Lynch Band and a long-running duo with harmonica ace Lee McBee. Lynch and McBee shared stages with Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Les McCann, Paul Butterfield, Buddy Guy, and Junior Wells. In 1985 Lynch rode a motorcycle to Los Angeles. Soon after arriving he saw Jack Mack and the Heart Attack at Trancas in Malibu, met drummer Claude Pepper, guitarist Andrew Kastner, and bassist David Lee Watson, and together they formed Pocket Rocket, landing a weekly residency at Josephina’s on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks. When blues harp legend John “Juke” Logan sat in one night, he and Lynch launched the project Logan and Lynch, performing across Southern California and opening for Leon Russell, Edgar Winter, Los Lobos, Taj Mahal, Robben Ford, and David Lindley. Over the years Lynch also performed with artists including Bonnie Raitt and Kansas legend Mike Finnigan. Though a three-time Kansas Music Hall of Fame inductee, he rarely pursued studio session work, though opportunities came along: singing demos for legendary songwriter Gerry Goffin, performing with the Woody Herman Orchestra, playing shows with Jerry Lee Lewis and Bo Diddley, appearing on TV in Newcastle with Noel Redding, PP Arnold, and Alan Price, and singing the theme for the Showtime sitcom It’s Garry Shandling’s Show. Bill and his wife Maggie, a life coach and entrepreneur, later decided to give something back to the LA music scene by opening The Write-Off Room in Woodland Hills, which quickly became one of the Valley’s most respected live music venues and a gathering place for world-class musicians. After COVID closed the club, the Lynches purchased the iconic Oil Can Harry’s building in Studio City and reopened the Write-Off Room there two years later. The venue hosted everything from 18-piece big bands to songwriter nights, surprise guest appearances, and even performances by top comedians like Bill Burr. One memorable night saw The Rolling Stones touring band play jazz versions of their songs. Another featured an extraordinary lineup of James Gadson, Abraham Laboriel, Paul Shaffer, Dean Parks, and George Doering performing with The Bill Lynch Band. Although the club is now closing and will soon reopen as The Starlight Cabaret, Bill Lynch’s legacy remains clear. As both musician and venue creator, he helped preserve the intimate live-music experience in the Los Angeles music community. TeaFlix Interview with The Zombies

Send us Fan Mail TeaFlix Interview with The Zombies The Zombies are an influential English rock band, often mistakenly described as a duo due to the prominence of their two principal members, vocalist Colin Blunstone and keyboardist/songwriter Rod Argent. Formed in 1961 in St Albans, the group became one of the most distinctive and sophisticated voices of the British Invasion. Blending jazz-inflected chord structures, baroque pop textures, and ethereal vocals, they achieved early international success with hits like She's Not There and later the timeless classic Time of the Season. Their 1968 album Odessey and Oracle - notable for its unique spelling - has since been hailed as one of the greatest pop albums of all time, admired for its lush harmonies, inventive melodies, and introspective songwriting. Although the band initially disbanded shortly after recording Odessey and Oracle, their music enjoyed a major resurgence in the late 1960s when Time of the Season became a surprise U.S. hit. Over subsequent decades, The Zombies reunited in various lineups led by Blunstone and Argent, continuing to tour and record new material while earning a revered place in rock history. After The Zombies first disbanded, Colin Blunstone quietly reinvented himself as one of Britain’s most distinctive solo vocalists. His 1971 album One Year revealed a more intimate, orchestral sound, highlighted by the timeless hit “Say You Don’t Mind.” Rather than chasing trends, Colin carved out a career defined by elegance, emotional subtlety, and that unmistakable breath-soft tenor. Across decades of solo recordings and touring, he has remained a singer’s singer — proof that restraint and vulnerability can be just as powerful as volume. Following The Zombies, Rod Argent stepped boldly into a new chapter by forming the progressive rock band Argent, embracing a heavier, more expansive musical direction. As a keyboardist, composer, and bandleader, Rod helped shape ambitious records of the early 1970s, including the enduring anthem “Hold Your Head Up.” His solo and production work showcased not only his virtuosity on keys, but also his instinct for melody and structure. Whether writing, producing, or performing, Rod has consistently balanced musicianship with musical adventure. Known for his literate songwriting and studio craft, Beland has worked with a wide circle of influential artists, including Kris Kristofferson, Linda Ronstadt, and other key figures from the California country-rock and Nashville songwriting scenes. Beyond songwriting, Beland has been active as a producer and studio musician, contributing to recordings which emphasize authenticity and craftsmanship. His behind-the-scenes work has placed him in creative environments alongside some of the most respected voices in American music, particularly during the era when Nashville and Los Angeles artists were increasingly crossing stylistic boundaries.
