Why Detoxing is No longer Optional in our Modern World with Detox Expert - Eddie Stone

In this episode of The Healthy Home Show, Charlie Lemmer is joined by detox expert Eddie Stone, CEO and founder of Touchstone Essentials, to explore why detox is no longer optional in modern life. With over 30 years’ experience in the detox and supplements space, Eddie shares how his personal journey into detox began through his mother’s autoimmune health crisis and why today’s toxic load is fundamentally different from anything previous generations faced. Together, Charlie and Eddie unpack what we are actually detoxing from, including heavy metals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), microplastics, pesticides and everyday chemical exposures found in our air, water, food, clothing and homes. They discuss the concept of “body burden”, how toxins can accumulate over time, and why symptoms such as fatigue, inflammation, hormonal imbalance and autoimmune issues are becoming increasingly common. The conversation covers practical, grounded strategies for supporting the body’s natural detox systems, including hydration, fibre, gut health, movement, breathing, saunas and reducing environmental exposure. Eddie also explains why gut transit time matters, how microplastics enter the body, and why supporting detox should be about consistency rather than extreme protocols. Charlie brings the discussion back to the home environment, highlighting the overlooked role that indoor air quality, water quality, materials and everyday lifestyle choices play in long-term health and longevity. This episode is a calm, evidence-informed conversation about detox without fear or fads, offering listeners a clearer understanding of how to reduce toxic load, support the body, and create environments that allow health to thrive. Mould: The Growing Health Crisis with Samuel Bowles

In this episode of The Healthy Home Show, Charlie Lemmer is joined by Sam Bowles, co-founder of Pure Maintenance UK, for an in-depth and evidence-based conversation about mould, indoor air quality and human health. Mould is often dismissed as a cosmetic or maintenance issue, yet growing evidence shows it can have a significant impact on wellbeing — particularly for those with allergies, asthma, autoimmune conditions or heightened sensitivities. Drawing on his personal health journey and years of professional experience, Sam explains why visible mould is rarely the full problem, how mould spores and mycotoxins build up in our homes over time, and why common approaches such as bleach and surface cleaning often fail to resolve the issue. Together, Charlie and Sam explore: Why most mould exposure is invisible and airborneThe concept of “mould load” in UK homesThe difference between proper remediation and surface treatmentHow mould affects the body and immune systemWhy UK housing stock is particularly vulnerableThe importance of addressing the environment before detoxing the bodyEmerging conversations around EMFs, building health and mouldWhy mould should be considered a public and environmental health issueThis episode is not about fear or extremes. It’s about clarity, practical understanding and informed choices — helping listeners better understand their homes and how to create healthier living environments. A must-listen for homeowners, renters, landlords, designers, health practitioners and anyone interested in the intersection between housing, health and wellbeing. How Healthy is Your First-Aid Cabinet ? - Jodi Scott, Founder of Green Goo

In this eye-opening conversation, Charlie Lemmer sits down with Jodi Scott, co-founder of Green Goo, to explore one of the most overlooked areas of home health: our first-aid and personal care products. Despite the rise of natural skincare and eco-friendly cleaning brands, most households still rely on outdated, chemical-heavy first-aid staples — petroleum ointments, steroid creams, synthetic lubricants and deodorants — often applied to the most absorbent parts of the body. Jodi reveals why the first-aid aisle hasn't changed in over 70 years, and how plant-based formulations can genuinely outperform conventional products without the toxins, preservatives or animal testing that dominate the industry. She shares: • The surprising origins of Green Goo  • Why a single herbal salve can replace up to 20 products in the average first-aid kit  • What makes intimate care and underarm products especially critical for hormone health  • How skin functions as a longevity organ, influencing inflammation, ageing and even DNA integrity  • The problem with greenwashing and why “natural” marketing often misleads consumers  • The wider environmental impact of what we wash down our drains  • Green Goo’s B Corp values and their social impact work with women in Afghanistan This episode is a powerful reminder that healthy living isn’t just about what we eat — it’s also about what we absorb, what we put on our children’s skin, and what we allow into the sanctuary of our homes. If you’re ready to rethink your first-aid cabinet and build a cleaner, more conscious home, this one is essential listening. Get in touch Thanks for listening to the Healthy Home Show Podcast. What's Really in Our Period Products? Toxic Tampon Truths with Helen Lynn

How safe are our period products, really?  Charlie speaks with campaigner Helen Lynn from the Women’s Environmental Network (WEN) about new findings that detected glyphosate and other concerning chemicals in mainstream tampons and pads — products placed against one of the body’s most absorbent tissues. We unpack why period products are barely regulated, how plastics, fragrances and “antimicrobial” additives creep in, and the real-world health implications of endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Helen offers a clear hierarchy of safer options (from certified-organic disposables to cups, discs, pants and reusable pads), plus practical advice for school education, tackling stigma, and reducing waste and cost. We also touch on period poverty, environmental justice, and why women and marginalised communities are disproportionately affected — along with smart ways to push for better policy and industry change. Small swaps add up; informed voices change systems.
