Connection, Growth & Taking the First Step | Licensed Therapist Laurie Newcomb | Episode 114

In this episode of Forward Facing, Andee and Mali sit down with licensed therapist Laurie Newcomb for an honest and deeply personal conversation about therapy, healing, relationships, divorce, grief, trauma, boundaries, and the patterns that can keep us stuck.Laurie shares how her own life experiences and journey through divorce helped lead her toward a second career in therapy. She explains why therapy is not simply about fixing what is wrong, but about becoming more aware of yourself, understanding your patterns, and creating a safe space to explore what is happening beneath the surface.Laurie also discusses why people often repeat old patterns even when they consciously want to change. She explains how therapy can help people become curious about those patterns rather than judging themselves, and why progress is rarely a straight line. Sometimes transformation means taking two steps forward, one step back, and learning from what happened along the way.The conversation goes deeper into divorce, grief, identity, co-parenting, anger, resentment, and the emotional challenges that come with major life transitions. Laurie explains why people going through divorce may experience constantly changing emotions and why creating space for those emotions can be an important part of moving forward. They also talk about marriage counseling, communication, boundaries, people-pleasing, mindfulness, happiness, personal growth, and the importance of slowing down enough to understand what you actually need.If you are navigating divorce, relationships, grief, trauma, major life transitions, personal growth, or simply trying to understand yourself better, this conversation offers thoughtful perspectives on therapy, healing, and moving forward.Connect with Transformation Counseling :https://transformationcounselingatl.com/If something we’ve talked about today resonates with you, we encourage you to visit TransformationCounseling to learn more about us and our approach. They work with young adults and adults navigating a variety of life transitions, including divorce, relationships, grief, trauma, and personal growth. Vision, Alignment & Harmony | Fractional Integrator Nicole Mennicke | Episode 113

In this episode of Forward Facing, Mali and Andy sit down with fractional integrator Nicole Mennicke for an honest conversation about business leadership, workplace culture, accountability, feedback, core values, and why talented employees can still struggle when placed in the wrong roles. Nicole explains how the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) helps leadership teams turn ambitious ideas into clear and achievable plans. She shares how structured meetings, effective processes, useful data, and shared accountability can help businesses move from constant uncertainty toward focused and sustainable growth. The conversation explores how Nicole helped the Hastings Shadmehry leadership team clarify its vision, establish a shared language, identify organizational weaknesses, and build a stronger foundation for the firm. They discuss why implementing a new operating system can create temporary turmoil—and why some employees may choose to leave when accountability and expectations become clearer. They also examine why many leaders claim to want honest feedback until they actually receive it. Nicole shares how businesses can create a healthier feedback culture by addressing problems directly, remaining factual and kind, and placing everyone on the same side of the table against the issue. Nicole explains the difference between having the right person and placing that person in the right seat. A talented employee may still underperform when their responsibilities do not match their abilities, while a high performer who does not share the company’s values can quietly damage trust, collaboration, and culture. The conversation also covers meaningful core values, creating a consistent client experience, managing organizational change, preventing burnout, processing grief, and replacing the impossible pursuit of work-life balance with greater harmony between personal and professional priorities. If you’re a business owner, entrepreneur, manager, lawyer, or team leader struggling with hiring, accountability, workplace culture, employee performance, or business growth, this conversation offers practical guidance for building a healthier and more effective organization. Resilience, Perspective & Life After Cancer | CDRE Jill Heineck | Episode 112

In this episode of Forward Facing, Mali sits down with Jill Heineck for a deeply personal conversation about cancer, resilience, identity, mental healing, relationships, and what it takes to rebuild your life after everything suddenly changes.Jill was just 35, thriving in her career and marriage, when she was diagnosed with uterine cancer. What followed was a radical hysterectomy, chemotherapy, hair loss, and an experience that forced her to confront not only her health, but the identity she had built around her career, appearance, independence, and drive.Years later, Jill faced cancer again, being diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2017 and then again in 2020. She also opens up about additional battles with melanoma and basal cell skin cancer, and what repeated diagnoses taught her about living with uncertainty. The conversation goes beyond the physical side of cancer into the emotional reality of losing your hair, struggling to recognize yourself, continuing to show up professionally while undergoing treatment, and learning that sometimes survival means allowing other people to carry you. Jill also shares how cancer completely changed the way she approached business, boundaries, relationships, and the people she allowed into her life. Some close friends disappeared after her diagnosis, while unexpected people stepped forward, teaching her one of her biggest lessons: when people show you who they are, believe them. They also discuss the often-overlooked experience of caregivers, learning to ask for help, protecting your energy, advocating for your own health, and why Jill believes the mental healing was ultimately harder than the physical recovery. If you’ve experienced cancer, a health crisis, loss of identity, a major life transition, or simply found yourself wondering how to move forward after life changes overnight, this conversation is a reminder that rebuilding doesn’t always mean returning to who you were before. Defining Success & Reinventing Yourself | Life Coach Tonya Chaplin | Episode 111

In this episode of **Forward Facing**, Mali Shadmehry and Andee Hastings sit down with **Tonya Chaplin, founder of Tonya Chaplin Coaching**, for a powerful conversation about **limiting beliefs, mindset, identity, success, personal growth, and rebuilding your life through major transitions**. Tonya explains how fear, comfort, old conditioning, and beliefs formed through life experiences can quietly influence the decisions we make. The conversation goes deeper into **identity after divorce and major life changes**, including the difficult question many people face when a relationship, career, body, or familiar chapter changes: *Who am I now?* They also discuss **Core Energy Coaching, the Energy Leadership Index, defining your personal values, changing habits through awareness, redefining success on your own terms, and what to look for when choosing a qualified life coach**.
