  1. Episode 3

SEASON 2 #3: Looking After the People Delivering Care, with Nurse Educator Rob Timmings, ECT4Health

Welcome back to the Regional Health Solutions Podcast. In this episode, we're turning our attention to something that underpins every other solution we talk about on this show: the people delivering care, and whether we're actually looking after them. Our guest is Rob Timmings, founder of ECT for Health and a nurse educator with over 25 years of experience. Rob trained at the Royal Brisbane Hospital back in the mid-eighties, cut his teeth in ICU and emergency, and has spent the better part of three decades travelling across Australia delivering face-to-face clinical education. He's also built one of the most engaged nursing communities online, with over 100,000 followers across social media. That reach gives him a genuinely unique view of what's happening inside the nursing workforce right now and in this conversation, he doesn't pull any punches. We talk about burnout, bullying, the erosion of workplace culture post-COVID, and why nurses with 20 years of experience are walking away from the profession. But we also explore what good looks like, the role education plays in keeping clinicians confident and capable, and why face-to-face learning still matters in a world that wants to put everything online. Rob is a STATIM partner, and honestly one of the best educators I've come across in this industry. Here's our conversation. 2. Episode 6

SEASON 2 #6 Who Is Responsible for Growing the Regional Health Workforce, with William Mundt & Jaden Frame

In the final episode of Season 2, STATIM co-founders William Mundt and Jaden Frame turn the microphone on themselves for a candid conversation about the regional health workforce crisis, and what they believe needs to happen next. Drawing on the Toowoomba Region Health Industry Environmental Scan and Workforce Development Plan, Will and Jaden unpack the distinction between a workforce shortage and a workforce development capacity problem, and why getting that distinction right matters for anyone trying to solve it.  They explore the "grow your own" framework of outside-in and inside-up strategies, the bottleneck created by an over-reliance on graduate programs as the only pathway into practice, and the data-sharing barriers that prevent locally trained clinicians from ending up back in the communities they came from. They also share what STATIM is doing about it, including the micro-credentialing program connecting school students to regional health facilities, and the RN upskilling program providing 12 months of ongoing mentorship to clinicians in place (rather than sending them away to a two-day seminar and hoping the learning sticks.) The episode closes with a bigger question: who actually owns the responsibility for coordinating a regional workforce strategy when the burden falls disproportionately on one large employer, and the rest of the ecosystem is made up of small providers without the capacity to lead?  Will and Jaden's answer is clear — it takes a convener. And they're putting their hand up. For resources and more conversations, visit https://statim.com.au/podcast and be part of the journey towards better health outcomes in regional Australia.
