    Football v Homophobia Special with Partick Thistle’s LGBTQI+ Supporters Group Proud Jags and Football v Homophobia Scotland

    This month’s episode is brought to you in partnership with our friends at Football v Homophobia as part of their ongoing month of action campaign. The organisation works all year round across the UK to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression at all levels of football.  In this episode we catch up with Football v Homophobia Scotland’s organisers to reflect on the importance of challenging discrimination in football and to find out a bit more about the upcoming Football v Homophobia awards in Glasgow. We also chat to Caitlin from Proud Jags - Partick Thistle’s LGBTQI+ supporters group, to discuss the importance of carving out safe spaces in the stands for everyone to enjoy the beautiful game. Alongside our interviews, we take a moment to discuss the title race in the SWPL as the season split has now been announced, and what that could mean for teams across the board!     Tessel Middag on the Importance of Activism and LGBTQ+ Inclusion

    This month’s episode is brought to you in partnership with our friends at Football v Homophobia as part of their ongoing month of action campaign. The organisation works all year round across the UK to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression at all levels of football. February is their month of action whereby a whole host of events take place across the UK, and to help raise awareness we are bringing you two special episodes this month to celebrate the importance of inclusivity and to highlight the vital work the organisation do too. We are delighted to kick off the first of these two episodes with Rangers and Netherlands midfielder, Tessel Middag. Tessel is a footballer, activist, historian, and also the vice chair of the PFA. She won the Val McDermid Award for the Spirit of SWF at the most recent Scottish Women’s Football Awards for her research into the history of Scottish women’s football, and she was also one of the organisers that brought forward a petition signed by over 100 professional women’s players from around the world calling on FIFA to drop their partnership with Saudi Arabian oil company ARAMCO.  On top of all of this we bring you all the usual updates from the SWPL, Scottish Cup, Sky Sports Cup, the notorious January transfer window, and finally the upcoming SWNT fixtures too!     Life on the East Coast with Hibs Midfielder (and our old football coach) Linzi Taylor

    We head through to Edinburgh to catch up with our old football coach, and wonderful Hibs midfielder, Linzi Taylor! We discuss their upcoming game against Aberdeen in the semi-finals of the Sky Sports Cup, what it’s like moving from a part time to full time contract with Hibs, and most importantly, if she misses us! This episode also sees us catch up with Leith based inclusive community football team, Jokes FC! Smith!  This episode also sees us catch up with Julie, the organiser of the beloved Glasgow Community 7s Football League, where we discuss the growth of grassroots football in Glasgow, and what her highlights have been since starting up the league.     Samantha Van Diemen on Signing to Glasgow City and Making Her Senior Debut for the Netherlands

    We are thrilled this month to welcome Netherlands international and Glasgow City centre back Samantha Van Diemen to the Sideline. We sit down with her to discuss her career through youth clubs, to signing for Ajax, making her senior debut for the Netherlands against Japan, and her move to Glasgow City. This episode also sees us catch up with Emma Porteous the founder and coach for grassroots team, Glasgow Pride. Alongside Pride, Emma offers one to one coaching, and also co-runs fitness and football skill sessions, Thrills and Drills!     “You Need to be Wired up a bit Differently to be a Goalkeeper” - Megan Sidey on Goalkeeper Heroes and Playing at Aberdeen

    In this episode we have a wee catch up with Aberdeen goalkeeper Megan Sidey fresh off the back of her keeping a clean sheet against Queen’s Park. We talk training routines, football heroes and how the team have managed to keep the heid in their somewhat turbulent start to the season. We are also now deep into this current SWPL season. The top of the table is tighter than ever, Celtic are juggling the group stages of the Champion’s League, and amidst all that chaos, the Scotland Women’s National Team are off seeking out their ticket to the Euros in the upcoming play offs.     We are back again with another stacked episode for this month as we catch up with Partick Thistle midfielder Courtney Stewart to discuss her love of football, feeling at home at Thistle, and what drives her to keep fighting for that spot on the pitch.     Fiona Brown on Playing in Sweden, Returning to Glasgow City, and Her Battle with ACL Injuries

    Fresh off the back of Scotland beating Serbia and finishing top of the group in the Euro Qualifiers, Amanda and Megan are thrilled to welcome Scotland international, and Glasgow City legend, Fiona Brown to the Sideline. In this episode Fiona reminisces on Glasgow City making it to the UWCL Quarter Finals in 2014, moving to Sweden for most of her twenties, and her experience of going to the 2019 World Cup with Scotland. In between all this sucess however, a huge part of Fiona's career has been spent battling numerous injuries and set backs, including 4 ACL tears. Her continued resilience and positive outlook on recovery is what certifies her as a legend in our books.
