    Send us Fan Mail THE ROMANS ROAD | A LIVING SACRIFICE — WEEK FOUR The Participation of the Altar: Which Altar Are You Eating From? 📖 1 Corinthians 11:17–34; 1 Corinthians 10:14–22 🎙️ Pastor Bill Sizemore What does the Lord’s Table reveal about the way we are living? In this fourth and final week of A Living Sacrifice, we come to The Participation of the Altar and ask a challenging question: Which altar are you eating from? Paul confronted the church at Corinth because what was supposed to be a picture of gospel unity had become a picture of division, selfishness, and status. The Lord’s Table was meant to be a place where believers shared life together, remembered Christ’s sacrifice, and proclaimed His return. But Paul takes it even deeper: every table is a participation. What we feed on, we become joined to. There are other tables competing for our hearts — approval, achievement, comfort, control, and bitterness. We cannot eat from the Lord’s Table while continuing to give ourselves to another altar. As we come to the Table, Paul gives us four directions to look: LOOK BACK — Remember the death of Jesus that made us His. LOOK WITHIN — Examine your own heart and confess what needs to be surrendered. LOOK AHEAD — Proclaim Christ until He comes and live ready for His return. LOOK AROUND — Discern the body of Christ and pursue reconciliation with one another. A living sacrifice isn’t someone who visits the altar occasionally. It is a life continually surrendered to Jesus. A Table to Share. A Table to Choose. A Table to Examine. There is only one altar worth eating from. Knowing exactly what was ahead of Him, Jesus got down on His knees and washed the feet of His disciples. The altar gets up and walks across the room. In this message, we discover three practices of a servant leader: **1. Secure Enough to Kneel** Security in your position allows you to express service. **2. Trusted Enough to Follow** Understanding was never the price of following a trustworthy leader. Trust was. **3.     Send us Fan Mail THE POWER OF THE ALTAR | A Living Sacrifice, Week One What does it really mean to become a “living sacrifice”? In Romans 12:1, Paul gives us a command that sounds almost contradictory: to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. A sacrifice was never alive for long—so what does God mean when He calls us to live this way? In this message, Bill Sizemore walks through Leviticus 1–7 and Genesis 22 to uncover the purpose of the altar and what it means for us as followers of Jesus. The altar was never something we built for God. It is something God built for us—and He has never wanted it closed. 🔥 IF THE ALTAR IS STILL OPEN, THEN I'M STILL COMING. We’ll look at: • GOD ESTABLISHED AN OPEN ALTAR — Leviticus 1–7 The five offerings reveal different dimensions of what it means to belong to God: giving ourselves, giving what we have, enjoying fellowship with Him, receiving cleansing, and making things right. • GOD REQUIRED A LIVING SACRIFICE — Genesis 22:1–19 Isaac walked up the mountain carrying the wood, not knowing how God would provide. His story reminds us that faith isn't the absence of a hard climb—it is confidence in the God who walks with us. • JESUS HAS OPENED THE ALTAR FOREVER — Hebrews 10; Romans 12:1 Every offering pointed forward to Jesus. The curtain of the temple was torn from top to bottom when Christ died, showing that God Himself opened the way into His presence. Because Jesus gave everything, we don't climb the mountain trying to earn something from God. We climb it because everything has already been given. 🔥 “If the altar is still open, then I'm still coming.” NEXT STEPS: 1. Name the one area of your life—your calendar, paycheck, career ambition, relationships, or something else—that you've been managing instead of fully surrendering to God. 2. Tell one trusted person what mountain you're carrying and ask them to pray that you'll trust what God provides. 3. Read Matthew 5:23–24. Identify someone you need to make things right with and take one concrete step toward reconciliation. Whether you're hearing about Jesus for the first time or you've followed Him for forty years, the invitation is the same: Come to the altar. Lay down your whole self.     Send us Fan Mail The Promise Keeper | Romans 11:11–36 What happens when the One who made the promise is God? In Romans 11, Paul reminds us that God's faithfulness is not determined by man's faithfulness. What God promises, God will fulfill. Israel's story may have looked like failure, rejection, and delay—but God's plan was never abandoned. Their stumbling was not their final condition. Through it all, God continued working out His purposes, bringing the gospel to the Gentiles while remaining faithful to His promises to Israel. This passage reveals three truths about the Promise Keeper: 1. An Unbroken Promise God's plan survives what looks like failure. Never confuse God's delay with God's denial. 2. An Undeserved Grace We were not grafted into God's family because we earned it. We were grafted in by grace alone. The root supports the branch—we don't support the root. 3. An Unstoppable Plan Israel's present hardening is partial and temporary. God's gifts and calling are irrevocable, and He will finish exactly what He promised. Maybe something in your life feels stalled, broken, or forgotten. In Romans 11:1–10, Paul reminds us that God has not abandoned His people. Through the stories of Paul, Isaiah, and Elijah, we see a powerful pattern: Encounter produces engagement, and engagement produces endurance. First, we encounter the God who changes what we see. Then we engage the mission because we have heard His call. Finally, we endure because His presence becomes greater than the results we can see. You can inherit someone else’s story of faith, but you cannot inherit their encounter with God. Eventually, you need your own “Jordan”—your own encounter with the Lord that changes the way you see everything else. Maybe you feel like Elijah in the cave. Maybe disappointment, rejection, fatigue, or comparison has caused you to lose sight of what God is doing. The reminder is simple: “His presence keeps me going.” God may not show you the entire plan. He may simply remind you, “I am here.” If He is still speaking, we are still listening. If He is still calling, we are still going. If He is still working, we are still serving.
