    LESSON 4 | Iron, Clay & The Final Kingdom | Daniel 2 & 7

LESSON 4 | Iron, Clay & The Final Kingdom | Daniel 2 & 7 When Time Meets Eternity | Seventh Day Church of God (Reformed) Inc. What happens to the kingdoms of this world when God establishes His everlasting kingdom? In this final installment of our three-part study on Nebuchadnezzar’s prophetic dream, we explore Daniel 2:40–49 and Daniel 7:7–14. The prophecy moves from the strength of iron, to the divided iron and clay, and ultimately to the Stone cut without hands—the divine kingdom that will destroy the systems of human government and stand forever. 168 BC–476 AD The fourth kingdom is represented by iron, symbolizing extraordinary strength and power. We examine the rise of Pagan/Imperial Rome and its place within Daniel’s prophetic sequence. Rome became a dominant world power, breaking, subduing, and conquering nations throughout its expansion. The statue does not end with solid iron. Its feet and toes are a mixture of iron and clay—representing a system possessing both strength and weakness. We explore the fragmentation of the Roman world and the development of divided European kingdoms. The prophecy presents a crucial truth: Human kingdoms may attempt to unite, but they cannot ultimately achieve permanent unity. Daniel 7 introduces another important power arising from the fourth beast. We examine the Little Horn and why Daniel describes this power as being different from the kingdoms that came before it. This section explores the development of Papal Rome as a religious and political power, including the historical transition of authority following the decline of the Western Roman Empire. This is the climax of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. A stone cut without hands strikes the image at its feet and destroys the entire system represented by the statue. The stone then becomes a great mountain that fills the whole earth. What does this supernatural stone represent? The everlasting Kingdom of God. Human kingdoms rise. Human kingdoms fall. Human systems promise peace and security. But ultimately, only God’s kingdom will endure forever. Daniel 2:44 gives us the prophetic conclusion: “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed…” This is the hope at the center of biblical prophecy. The final answer to humanity’s problems is not another human empire. It is the Kingdom of God under Jesus Christ. The first stages of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream give us confidence in what comes next. Gold — BabylonSilver — Medo-PersiaBronze — GreeceIron — RomeIron & Clay — Divided KingdomsThe Stone — God’s Eternal Kingdom As we look back at the fulfillment of the earlier portions of the prophecy, we can have confidence that God’s final promise will also be fulfilled. History is not out of control. God holds the future in His hands. From Babylon to the Kingdom of God, Daniel reveals a remarkable prophetic sequence demonstrating that earthly kingdoms are temporary—but God’s kingdom will stand forever. Keep studying. When God Allows Trials

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? | When God Allows the Trial Seventh Day Church of God (Reformed) Inc. | Bible Study When tragedy strikes, who do we blame? When sickness, hardship, or unexpected trials come, is it the devil, our circumstances, other people—or is there something deeper that Scripture wants us to understand? In this powerful Bible study, Deputy Overseer Pastor Gershom Baxter, hosted by Pastor Gary Campbell, explores the question: WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? Through the stories of Joseph, Job, Naomi, Israel’s captivity, and Jesus before Pilate, we examine what the Bible teaches about God’s sovereignty in the midst of trials and suffering. Although Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem and carried Israel into captivity, Scripture reveals God’s sovereignty behind the event: “…whom I have caused to be carried away…” — Jeremiah 29:4 Joseph was betrayed, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. Yet he later told his brothers: “It was not you that sent me hither, but God.” — Genesis 45:8 Satan was permitted to afflict Job, yet Job declared: “The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away…” — Job 1:21 At the end of his trial, Scripture again points to God’s ultimate authority over what had happened. After losing her husband and sons, Naomi returned to Bethlehem bitter and empty. Yet God used her difficult circumstances to bring about a much greater purpose through Ruth. When Pilate claimed authority over Jesus, Christ answered: “Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above.” — John 19:11 When a dog is barking at you from behind a fence, you don’t negotiate with the dog—you deal with the owner who holds the leash. Likewise, when trials or the adversary come against us, we must remember who ultimately has control. Look beyond the circumstance and look to God. Satan can make sinful shortcuts, worldly pleasures, and quick rewards appear attractive. God’s path may involve temporary suffering and pruning, but He uses these experiences to develop our character. Sometimes God seems silent when we pray. But silence does not mean absence. Like a teacher silently observing students during an examination, God may allow us to be tested while remaining fully present. Joseph didn’t understand God’s plan in the pit. Job didn’t understand God’s plan in his suffering. Naomi didn’t understand God’s plan in her grief. Yet God was working through every situation. What looks like chaos to us is never outside God’s sovereignty. The question isn’t always: “Why is this happening to me?” Sometimes we should ask: “What is God accomplishing through this?” Jeremiah 29:1–4Genesis 45:1–8Job 1:20–21; 42:10–11Ruth 1:20–21John 19:10–11Psalm 66:18 When you face a difficult trial, who or what do you instinctively blame? Are you focused on the circumstance, or are you looking to the God who remains sovereign over it? Share your thoughts in the comments. 👇 If you’re going through a difficult season, remember: You may not understand what God is doing, but His sovereignty has not changed. LESSON 3 | Gold, Silver & Bronze — The Rise of World Empires

When Time Meets Eternity What do Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece have in common? Centuries before these empires rose and fell, the prophet Daniel recorded a remarkable vision of a multimetallic statue representing successive world kingdoms. In Daniel 2:24–39 and Daniel 7:1–6, we begin to uncover the meaning behind the gold, silver, and bronze portions of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. This lesson explores how biblical prophecy connects with the rise and fall of ancient empires—and what these prophecies reveal about the sovereignty of the One True God. 605–539 BC The head of gold represents the Babylonian Empire, which is also represented by the winged lion in Daniel 7. We examine: Babylon’s extraordinary wealth and powerIts place in biblical historyThe connection between Babylon and BabelNimrod and the development of ancient BabylonBabylon’s association with idolatry and false worshipThe continuing spiritual influence of Babylonian religious practicesWhat made Babylon the appropriate symbol for the head of gold? 539–331 BC The second kingdom is represented by silver in Daniel 2 and by the bear in Daniel 7. We explore: The conquest of Babylon by the Medes and PersiansCyrus and the fall of BabylonWhy the bear is raised on one sideThe meaning of the three ribs in its mouthThe conquest of Lydia, Babylon, and EgyptThe imagery in Daniel provides a fascinating prophetic picture of the empire that would follow Babylon. 331–168 BC The third kingdom is represented by bronze/brass and by the remarkable four-winged, four-headed leopard in Daniel 7. We examine: The rise of Alexander the GreatThe speed of the Greek conquestsThe expansion of the Greek EmpireAlexander’s death at approximately 33 years oldThe division of his kingdom among four generals:Why does Daniel describe Greece using the imagery of a four-winged, four-headed leopard? The empires of Daniel’s prophecy aren’t simply names in an ancient history book. Their influence can still be seen in aspects of modern culture. In this lesson, we explore fascinating historical connections, including: 🇮🇷 Persian innovations and technology 🏺 Greek architecture and the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders 🏟️ The ancient Olympic Games 🏛️ The continuing influence of Greek and Persian civilization Discover how the ancient world continues to shape the world we live in today. The central message of Daniel’s prophecy isn’t simply about identifying ancient kingdoms. It is about who controls history. Babylon rose. Babylon fell. Medo-Persia followed. Greece followed Medo-Persia. The succession of kingdoms demonstrates that human empires rise and fall—but God remains sovereign over them all. As we continue through Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, we will see where this prophetic sequence ultimately leads. “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed…” — Daniel 2:44 (KJV) Daniel 2:24–39Daniel 7:1–6 Daniel 2:44 1 Timothy 2:4Genesis 10:8–10Which historical fulfillment of Daniel’s prophecy do you find most remarkable? Share your thoughts in the comments below. 👇 Continue following When Time Meets Eternity as we journey through the prophetic books of the Bible and examine God’s plan for humanity. In the next lesson, we continue the prophetic image and explore the legs of iron, the feet of iron and clay, and the Stone that ultimately destroys the kingdoms represented by the statue. ⏳ The story isn’t over. LESSON 2 | Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream — Part 1: The One True God

LESSON 2 | Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream — Part 1: The One True God When Time Meets Eternity | Seventh Day Church of God (Reformed) Inc. What happens when human wisdom reaches its absolute limit? In Daniel 2:1–23, King Nebuchadnezzar demands something seemingly impossible: his wise men must tell him both the dream he had and its interpretation—or face death. Their failure exposes the limits of human wisdom, occult practices, and false claims of secret knowledge. But while Babylon’s wise men panic, Daniel turns to God in prayer. This lesson explores how God used an impossible crisis to demonstrate His wisdom, power, and absolute sovereignty. Nebuchadnezzar’s disturbing dream leaves him desperate for answers. His demand places Babylon’s magicians, astrologers, sorcerers, and Chaldeans in an impossible position. The king’s wise men claim to possess supernatural knowledge, but when challenged to reveal the dream itself, their inability is exposed. We examine God’s warning against occult practices and attempts to obtain supernatural knowledge apart from Him. 📖 Deuteronomy 18:10 While a death sentence hangs over Babylon’s wise men, Daniel responds differently. Instead of panicking, Daniel seeks God and gathers Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah to pray together. Their response teaches us an important lesson: When we face an impossible situation, our first response should be to seek God. Why did God allow the situation to reach the point of a death decree before providing the answer? Sometimes God permits circumstances to reach the point where human ability is clearly insufficient—so that His power and glory can be unmistakably revealed. Who do people turn to today when they want certainty? Horoscopes.Algorithms.Influencers.Experts.Technology.Artificial intelligence. These things may provide information, but none can replace God as the ultimate source of truth, wisdom, and certainty. Our confidence must ultimately rest in God and His Word. 📖 Main Text: Daniel 2:1–23 📖 Key Verses: Daniel 2:20–22 📖 Supporting Scriptures: Deuteronomy 18:10Psalm 74:12–17Genesis 41“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and power are His.”— Daniel 2:20 Daniel did not allow an impossible situation to determine his response. He prayed. He trusted God. And he sought God before seeking human solutions. When human wisdom reaches its limit, God’s wisdom does not. Knowledge vs Wisdom - Proverbs 2

Welcome to another episode of the SDCOG Bible Study podcast as we continue our verse-by-verse exploration of the Book of Proverbs. In this session, we move into Proverbs Chapter 2, where Solomon continues his fatherly instruction by shifting the focus from the public "shout" of wisdom to the intentional, private pursuit required to obtain it. In this episode, we discuss: The Diligent Search: We examine the active language Solomon uses, such as "crying out" for insight and searching for wisdom like "hidden treasures". We discuss why wisdom is not a passive attainment but requires a heart inclined toward understanding. The Source and the Shield: We explore the powerful truth that "the Lord gives wisdom" directly from His mouth. You will learn how God acts as a shield and a guard for those who walk in integrity, protecting the paths of justice for His godly ones.Deliverance from the Devious: A major portion of this chapter focuses on the protective power of discretion. We talk about how wisdom rescues the believer from those who speak perverse things and walk in the ways of darkness. The Flattery of the "Strange Woman": We unpack the warning against the "foreign woman" whose words are smooth as flattery but whose path leads to death and the chambers of the dead. We discuss the spiritual implications of forgetting the covenant of God.The Two Destinies: We conclude with the clear contrast between the upright, who will live in the land, and the wicked, who will be eliminated and torn away. This study serves as a reminder that spiritual security is found in the wisdom that enters your heart and becomes delightful to your soul. Why Smart People Make Foolish Choices - Proverbs 1 Overview

Welcome to this episode of our Bible study series as we begin a verse-by-verse journey through the Book of Proverbs. In this inaugural session, we dive into Proverbs Chapter 1, exploring its unique structure as a collection of practical life wisdom designed to give the reader prudence, knowledge, and discretion. In this episode, we discuss: The Foundation of Wisdom: We unpack the thematic heart of the entire book: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge". We explore how this "fear" is not a cowering terror, but a proper reverence and worshipful submission to the Creator. The Power of Associations: The first specific warning in Proverbs concerns the enticement of sinners. We examine the Allure of "Bad Company," the dangers of seeking unjust gain, and why your choice of friends is one of the most powerful influences on your future.Wisdom’s Public Call: We look at Wisdom personified as a woman shouting in the streets and public squares. She isn't hiding in a temple; she is offering street-level guidance for your home, your school, and your business. The Cost of Rejection: We conclude with the sobering consequences of ignoring Wisdom’s rebuke. We discuss how complacency and a love of simplicity can lead to calamity, while those who listen will find security and ease from the dread of evil.As the sources highlight, while Solomon was remarkably wise, his own life ended in tragedy because he failed to follow the very wisdom he preached. This serves as a reminder for us to not just hear the word, but to live it daily. Join us as we learn what it means to be truly wise in an age of information.
