Chip White, Brother of Vanna White

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgAxJ1_YmV8 Vanna White, the co-host of Wheel of Fortune, interviews me, her brother Chip as we start Season 4 with this special episode. We are flipping the script, or should I say the host and guest seats. I’m jumping in the hot seat. We began with life as kids in North Myrtle Beach during the 1960s and 70s when The Beach was truly a 3-month summer vacation spot and locals struggled to survive the winter months when the tourists were all back home. Stories of how we learned to ride bicycles and laughed about my Jr high school breakfast of choice, “A large bottle of Coca-Cola and big ole’ Honey Bun”, which had me jacked up on sugar and not very focused in class. She asks me about some of my jobs starting with my high school gig as a Clothing Consultant at a men’s clothing store, to being a nightclub DJ at Another World where Vanna was once a cocktail waitress. My first move to LA in late 1981 or early ’82 and me deciding if I’m going to starve in LA, I might as well starve back home, where I returned to being a DJ in various Grand Strand nightclubs. I open up about a time in my life where drugs were dragging me down a dark and unsuccessful path and how getting sober has changed and improved my life. It’s an honest conversation about my journey, family and addiction. She wanted to know how I handled moving from a small town in South Carolina to the big city of Los Angeles in my early 20s and trying to find my way in the so-called fast lane. We joke that our mom used to tell us “nothing good ever happens after midnight” and why I had to disagree with that statement. We talked about ice cream and our favorite shop in NMB, Painter’s Original and what flavors we like best. Getting to play golf with her in a PGA tournament and other highlights and perks of being her brother. We reflected on Krispy Kreme donuts and the “HOT’ sign along with childhood Christmas tales and some special Santa gifts. And of course the big question, “what is it like being Vanna White’s brother? Freida Parton, Sister of Dolly Parton (Part 2)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_vXk2OCWQw Dolly Parton, passed away on August 25th, 2026and the world began mourning the loss of a music, film, tv and humanitarian icon. For her fans there is real grief, sadness and a desire to live more Dolly like. She taught us all grace, forgiveness and unconditional love. For many it feels like the passing of a family member. I know for me it has been an emotional roller coaster and I had the opportunity to meet her. Freida Parton, Dolly’s younger sister has opening expressed her grief and shared with the world her love for Dolly. In 2025 I interviewed Freida for this podcast (S02 Ep52). Several months afterwards Freida invited me to Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort for a record launch, fan meet & greet, along with a chance for a follow-up sit down interview with her. She told me I want to interview you too, so we did some question swapping and learned a little more about each other. I hesitated in posting this this episode at this time, however I have noticed and realize that when an icon passes fans want to know more about their lives, that we hunger to feel a part of the process, to grieve with the family, to heal with their loved ones and to absorb as many stories as we can about their life. We hope for new information, a tid-bit of humor or even what family relationships were like. We want to find comfort and peace along with their family. Though this interview was serval months before Dolly’s passing I believe Freida’s stories of her life and Dolly’s love are important for folks to hear and bring peace as we all celebrate the life and love of Dolly Parton. Thank you Freida for your stories and for sharing your time and life with us. Kelly Richards, Father of Cam Richards

https://youtu.be/D1EP0YEleBw Cam Richards was a teenager from Garden City, SC when he stepped onto the world surfing stage. On Dec 6, 2018 at the age of 19 he had what many call the perfect ride at Hawaii’s famous Pipeline on a board designed, shaped and made by his father Kelly Richards. Kelly Richards is a no nonsense, straight up waterman. He tells you like it is and says he is who is and if that bothers you, well, he doesn’t care. The first time I reached out he said yes but warned me that he stuttered. Kelly wasn’t sure our listeners would tolerate his speech impediment. I assured him that was not a problem. When I started surfing at 11 yrs old in NMB, SC there were maybe 3 true surf shops along The Grand Strand. Established in 1969, The Village Surf Shop in Garden City being one, along with a surf & bike shop in Myrtle. At that time Eric Eason and his wife owned it. Anytime we surfed the south shores of the beach we had to make a stop there for wax or a new leash. I was to young and broke for a new board. LOL When Eric was ready to retire, Kelly, his family and business partner Brian Campbell bought the shop and dove head first into being not only a first class shop but also being very active in the community and its growth. Kelly has always supported and encouraged both his sons, Cole and Cam, to chase their surf dreams. Cam chose to dive deep into the professional surfing world. Cole is a key figure at the shop and in the water teaching new generations how to surf. Many kids along The Grand Strand owe their passion for surfing and the surfing lifestyle to Kelly and The Village Surf Shop. Though Cam may be the face of professional surfing for the Myrtle Beach area, his dad is the man who keeps the boards in the water and local Pipeline dreams alive. Sheri Richardson, Sister of Perry Richardson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ehYVsmd_nY Her brother Perry Richardson was an original member of the 90s rock band “Firehouse” and now helps Robert Sweet (ep 63) keep the beat as the bass player for “Stryper”. Sheri and I have been friends since around 1979 or 80 (at this point who’s counting) when we started hitting the Myrtle Beach nightclub scene in our teens. We share some of those stories, but not enough to tarnish our impeccable images, what it was like growing up along The Grand Strand back then, and how life is today. Sheri was a country girl, I was a beach bummer surfer so a teens we didn’t really cross paths. Back then that meant she lived across the waterway, while us beach folks resided between the Intercoastal Waterway and The Atlantic Ocean. Today people living 20 miles west of the ICW say they live at “the beach”. While Perry followed his musical dreams and has toured the world, Sheri and her husband Kevin, have built an amazing life and community together in Myrtle Beach. Sheri got her taste for restaurant work in the 80s as a waitress at Adam’s Ribs which has helped her and Kevin build a nice restaurant business in Myrtle and North Myrtle Beach. They were kind enough to let us record 5 episodes of the podcast at one of their restaurants, Chuck’s Steak House. They also have Captain Archie’s and Oscar’s in North Myrtle Beach and The Salty Butcher in Myrtle Beach. Sheri reflects on the hard work she and Perry had to do growing up in the country, her mother Billie’s years as Clerk of Court for Horry County, how music was a family thing, except she was only allowed to sing one song, being a grandmother and what it’s like having a Rock & Roll brother. As my producer said, Chip, it was like listening to you just catching up with an old friend. I hope you like hanging out with Sheri and I as much as I enjoyed finally having her on the podcast. Christopher Korman, son of Harvey Korman

https://youtu.be/wQ5F_MfAEoU OMG! It’s Harvey Korman’s Son! I am still to this day a big fan of “Blazing Saddles” and “The Carol Burnett Show”. Mostly because of the talent and comedy timing of Harvey Korman. How fun would it be to spend 30 mins chatting with Mr. Korman about his amazing acting career? Well, how about 30 mins with his amazing son Christopher. Christopher wrote a book called “OMG! It’s Havey Korman’s Son!” which I find hilarious because he’s right up front about who his dad is. It reminds me that before I started this podcast I shot a TV pilot called “Vanna White’s Brother’s Talk Show” – look it up on YouTube – because like Christopher and his book, we were right up front about who’s talk show it was. Talking with Chritopher I learned he was lucky to be alive today because he was born with Hyaline membrane disease. HMD caused Christopher many health issues throughout his childhood, along with a severe learning disability. However his father was beyond supportive and encouraging. Always reminding Chrisopher to not let his disabilities define him. We discuss how his father helped him with a golf tournament and how over the years they both gave back to help kids with learning disabilities. A loyal subscriber to Relatively Famous found out I was going to interview Chris and wanted me to ask him about “the special award his father gave him” and about the “Star Wars Holiday Special”…Both are great stories! You’ll have to listen or watch to hear them. We also chat about Christmas’ in Lake Arrowhead, CA, what Dodger Dogs and pancakes mean to him still today and advice he has for his own son. Laurie Buffett McGuane, Sister of Jimmy Buffett

https://youtu.be/Zy8gIMgKDi8 I feel like this was a big win for Relatively Famous. To get Jimmy Buffett’s sister Laurie to say absolutely I’d love to be a guest after so many world renowned music relatives saying no put some gas back in my tank. In past episodes I have mentioned Laurie’s sister’s restaurant Lulu’s in North Myrtle Beach and had reached out to Lulu several times. Heck like Laurie and I talk about in our conversation I really didn’t know Jimmy had another sister. But while Googling Jimmy I found Laurie’s name and started digging around. Ok, I’m not always the brightest bulb in the pack but sometimes my light shines just enough to see something amazing. Hence, Laurie being our guest on this episode. What an amazing woman. Let’s start strong by talking about Laurie being a pancreatic cancer survivor. She was diagnosed the same day her brother Jimmy finished his treatment for Merkel cell carcinoma. The story she tells of that day and her time battling cancer is heavy and heartwarming. This is true sibling love and support. Laurie is a horse woman and a Montana rancher along with her famous husband, author Thomas McGuane. She is the middle sibling between Jimmy and Lulu. You’d think she was the quiet one being the middle child but she tells us that she was actually the gregarious one. Yet she always has to remind Lulu, with a smile and humor, to let people know, “Hey I’m out here too, it’s not just you and Jimmy.” We talk about life in Jimmy’s shadow, the weight you would  think the Buffet name has in Florida but isn’t always so, about her love of horses, her husband’s books and which is her favorite. What also talk ranch life vs beach life. Laurie knows she has an amazing life. She talks of favorite family moments and incredible experiences she has had because of her brother. All I can really say is “even if you’re not a Parrot head you’ll LOVE our conversation about Jimmy, life, horses and family.” We’ve included links to a couple of articles about her husband Thomas and Lulu’s restaurants, and Jimmy’s website since Laurie’s pretty laid back in the social media world. https://www.jimmybuffett.com/ https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2025/12/thomas-mcguane-writing/684617/ https://lulusfunfoodmusic.com/ #horses #ranchlife #pancreaticcancer #canersurvivor #parrothead #lulu #jimmybuffett #margaritaville #cheeseburgerinparadise
