Connected Care: A Whole-Person Approach to Recovery

Recovery is about more than addressing substance use. Physical health, mental health, and behavioral health are deeply connected, and when those areas of care work together, people can receive more complete support throughout their recovery journey. In this episode, Dr. Jennifer Jancsin sits down with Zepf Center leaders Nate Konzen, Clinical Manager of Comprehensive Recovery Services; Leah Marty, Clinical Manager of Adult Therapy; and Christina Ray, Advanced Practice Nurse with Zepf Center Primary Care, to talk about Connected Care and the importance of treating the whole person. Together, they discuss how physical health, mental health, and substance use can impact one another, what Connected Care looks like in practice, and how collaboration across care teams can make healthcare more accessible and support long-term recovery. They also explore what makes Zepf Center’s Connected Care approach unique and why having different areas of care connected within one organization can make a meaningful difference for the people we serve. Whether you’re in recovery, supporting someone you love, or simply want to better understand whole-person health, this episode offers insight, encouragement, and a reminder that Recovery Happens Together. Looking Beyond the Behavior: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Helping Kids

When a child acts out, withdraws, or struggles with big emotions, it's easy to focus on the behavior. But what if that behavior is really communication? In this episode, Dr. Jennifer Jancsin sits down with Zepf Center Youth Services leaders Dr. Leslie LeFevre and Katie Beach, APN, for an honest conversation about childhood trauma, mental health, and the importance of looking beyond behaviors. Together, they discuss why more children and teens are struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma, how traumatic experiences affect a child's developing brain, and how parents, teachers, and trusted adults can respond with compassion while still setting healthy boundaries. Whether you're a parent, caregiver, educator, coach, or someone who simply cares about children, this episode offers practical insights, hope, and a reminder that healing is always possible. Because sometimes the most important question we can ask isn't, "What's wrong with you?" it's "What happened to you?"
