    I sat down with Peter Risko, better known as Wall Street Pete, the man behind the story "From the Penitentiary to the Penthouse." Pete opens up about growing up in New Jersey, the wrong turns he took as a kid, his time behind bars, and the moment he decided to rebuild his life from scratch. From there he walks through how he learned sales, found his way into the merchant cash advance business, and built a sales floor on Wall Street with no connections, no roadmap, and a lot of determination. We also get into the lessons he learned along the way about mindset, loyalty, and what it really takes to show up every single day.     Prof. Zae ITU community feature: Demo vs Live Trading: How to Manage Risk Like It's Your Own Money

    Excited to share that Brandon Pitts and I recently sat down with Prof. Zae and the Inside ITU Traders community for a live call, and it was a great one. We talked about what changes when you move from evaluation and demo accounts to real money, why a funded account is really only as big as its max drawdown, how to practice in a way that mimics reality, and how time spent bouncing between prop firms without a plan quietly becomes the most expensive part of the journey. Brandon also walked through the market reversal times we teach, the habit of zooming out before zooming in, and why marking up your levels is like having a GPS for the market. Community members jumped in with their own questions, and that made the conversation even better. My biggest takeaway is something I say all the time: treat every account like it's your own capital, no matter who funded it. That discipline is what keeps you in the game long enough to become consistent. A big thank you to Prof. Zae and everyone at ITU for having us, and to the traders who showed up with great questions.     Jeff Allen Left a Family of Doctors for Film School and Built Two Exit

    Episode 110 of the Lightspeed Investing Podcast is live, and this one hit close to home. My guest is Jeff Allen, a fellow KU Jayhawk who comes from a long line of doctors, was fully on the pre-med path, and then took a wild turn into Hollywood and USC film school. From there he went on to help build and sell businesses, including a streaming platform that Hallmark bought and a nutraceutical brand called True Niagen, and today he runs a marketing agency and business incubator while teaching himself stock options and trading. We talked about the leap of faith that comes with leaving a "safe" career, how the creative and scientific sides of the brain can work together, and the what-if questions we all think about from time to time. Jeff is one of the most versatile people I've had on the show, and his story is a good reminder that your first plan doesn't have to be your final one.     Ep 109: From $4/Hour Apprentice to Arkansas's Only Steinway Dealer | Stephen Wirges

    Excited to share episode 109 of the Lightspeed Investing Podcast with my good friend Stephen Wirges, owner of the Steinway Gallery in Little Rock, Arkansas. Stephen and I first connected at a business event on the West Coast and he's since become a client here at Lightspeed. His story is one of the best examples I've come across of what real work life integration looks like. He started as a 17 year old apprentice learning piano restoration under a mentor who had spent 20 years caring for the Royal Danish Conservatory's Steinways, and from there built his way up through running a full retail and service shop, launching his own company, and eventually becoming Arkansas's official Steinway representative in 2017. Today he runs a full Steinway gallery he designed and built himself, acoustics and all, with the CEO of Steinway flying down for the ribbon cutting. We talked about the value of mentorship, how relationships and reputation compound over time, and what it means to build a business around something you genuinely love.
