HWA-TING SPORTS PODCAST!

Mr. S

We are two long-time foreigners living in South Korea who really love sports and love talking about sports. We've been to matches of all kinds, from the boring (Fencing) to the amazing (B-ball playoffs). Our podcast is focused on the Korean sports market for listeners who want to know the big questions about it. We are not a topical podcast (no time for that) but from time to time we will have season previews and playoff predictions. If you're interested in anything sports-related, you've come to the right place! If you want to learn more or read a transcript, visit our website.

    Korea Olympics Roundup

Today on the show we yell at misbehaving netizens, and talk about Korea's 2026 Olympic performance. They did about as well as expected, and had surprising performances in snowboarding. Is snowboarding becoming Korea's go-to Olympic sport and supplanting speed skating? Let's talk about that and more! No GOTW this episode; we'll do that segment on Friday. But we have Worst Persons and you know whom is on it. If you don't follow baseball, you will soon enough. Pickleball and Top sports stories of 2025

Today on the show we're talking about the rise of pickleball in Korea and where to get paddles and balls as well as where to find courts. Then we're talking about our top 10 sports stories of the year because Mr. S didn't like the list in the papers. We have our own ideas. Also some breaking pickleball news came our way just before recording and we squeezed it through the kitchen! As usual you can find our transcripts on our website hwatingsportspodcast.com/home. And we're on Facebook and BlueSky! Look for our logo! Music by DumiAFava. Not as common elsewhere.  Busan Dongrae has a pickleball club, but they seem to be using an indoor badminton court and free nets. There is a national organization now.
